If I can speak in broad blanket statements for a moment, I believe that San Francisco is putting out the best music of any scene in the country right now. I know, I know, you're reading a Seattle-based blog, and I certainly know, my bias is completely out of control as I wake and live [...]

Sic Alps recently unleashed this minute-long acid trip for the Breadhead B-side, "1/2 Rabbit Sandwich with Fries." The 73 is out now on Drag City . (via Raven Sings the Blues ) Wooden Shjips ' new Patrick Whalen -directed video for "Crossing" captures the band performing live from what feels like a thousand different angles. It's the latest clip for a song from the band's West LP. Related Posts: [...]

If you're anything like me, you know how difficult it can be to keep track of all of the new music that's constantly floating around the Internet. Here's our latest month-in-review mix collecting some our favorite new (or new to us) songs recently posted on the website. Gathered in the mix are eighteen (!) new tracks that were posted on TheBayBridged.com in September, with links below to download each of them individually. The Bay Bridged - Best of the Blog September 2011 Mixtape Tracklisting: [...]

The Clamcast is so-called not because of seafood, but because it all of a sudden became rather clammy here this week. An unseasonable warm spell descended and I didn't personally adjust my clothing habits fast enough, meaning absolutely everywhere I went I ended up being uncomfortably warm. So there you go, the Clamcast. Anyhow, I am off to Glasgow to set up the Independent Record Fair, before scooting back through to Edinburgh to get the John Knox Sex Club, Easter and Fuzzystar Ides of Toad night sorted out at Henry's. Actually, I say sorted out, but [...]

Another bonanza month of top tunes, all rounded up for you in one perfect download mix. Here are the September highlights together, as always, with a couple of top-notch new tracks too. Download The Migrant – The Hurricane mp3 (from Amerika) Distinguished by a slow blues refrain, handclaps and a mournful vocal, it is one of those tunes that sounds like it has been around forever. Download Diarrhea Planet – Warm Ridin' mp3 (from Loose Jewels) A magnificent cacophony of guitars, pounding bass, thundering drums and begs for [...]
Sic Alps is in flux. What does a band do when it's in flux? Put out as many awesome 73 on Drag City as possible it seems. "Breadhead" was a fuzzed out melodic winner, and now "Battery Townsley" roars on to the scene with a similar sort of acoustic noise backing it. I can't say [...]
Sic Alps – Battery Townsley 7" There haven't been a ton of singles that have really ignighted us this year but Sic Alps' run of post-album 7"s has been one to watch. As we mentioned before the band tend to use their short format recordings to explore past the simple fuzz blues and the acoustic strummer on the A-side here is no exception. The flip's called "Cambridge Vagina" and that should be all you need to know, but if you're aching for details it runs further back towards the blown out terrain of [...]

This week may not be the powerhouse release of the season like last week. But you can't have those twice in the same season... it's just math. All that being said, there is a lot of great stuff out today. For example, local heroes Andrew Jackson Jihad have an album about knife men out so that is pretty cool. In addition to that wonderful (probably) album , as you can see below, there are a ton of other good ones too. Just take your time and look at all of them... with your ears. Then I want [...]
I was futzing about on the internet recently, as you do, and I happened across a YouTube channel run by a band from Manchester (I believe) called Former Bullies . According to Suffering Jukebox - a label, now on hiatus I think, run by one of the guys from Mazes - the band have been around for nearly seven years and, for whatever reasons, have yet to really crack any kind of serious audience. The people I have spoken to in Manchester tend to treat the recent outbreak of lo-fi garage rock in [...]

So much to catch up on...here's a few tracks to tickle the earbuds. Veteran noisemongering indie rockers Comet Gain have given us another track from their excellent album Howl Of The Lonely Crowd , this time it is the marvellously titled Clang Of The Concrete Swans . Download Comet Gain - Clang Of The Concrete Swans mp3 (from Howl Of The Lonely Crowd) Acid Baby Jesus deliver (as you might surmise) a full throttle blend of scuzzy garage rock, and they do it better than [...]

Sic Alps - "Breadhead" While Sic Alps tours Europe, Drag City has released the Breadhead 73, a four-song set that closes with a Dwyer/Segall/Melton-assisted cover of Bob Marley and the Wailers' "Can't You See." What's more, the band (Sic Alps, not The Wailers) also has the Battery Townsley 73 coming on September 20th. Check out the band's latest "Tour Phone" tour doc video below: Related Posts: [...]

New single from Sic Alps was released late last month on Drag City. The 7'' will feature 4 new track from the band, including a cover of Bob Marley's "Can't You See" which features contributions from John Dwyer (Oh Sees), Ty Segall and Matthew Melton. The record can be picked up here . Breadhead
Sic Alps has been in a massive state of flux as of late. Band members getting booted leaving in the middle of tours, band members returning, celebrity guest stars filling in the slots of departed band members and at the end of the day, Mike Donovan plugging away as a strange, little band called Sic [...]
