She covers "Love Kills", originally by Freddie Mercury, and it's remixed by Sidechains and the Buffetlibre dudes for the Buffetlibre DJs project Rewind 2 . Eighties synthpop is a total guilty pleasure of mine. After years of self-indulgence I've come to the conclusion that synthpop is a bizarre genre. For whatever reason, so much of the dark, industrial-tinged arm of synth music gets grouped right alongside the upbeat and pop-influenced. This juxtaposition within the genre never made much sense to me until recently. I'm very fond of both A1 Bassline and Pirate Soundsystem, so when I saw one remixing the other my first thought was that I would now need to purchase a new pair of briefs, though the second thought was this needs immediate postage. The wildly inventive, ridiculously great (and free) compilation from the Spaniards in Buffetlibre , "Rewind", made huge waves because it culled together such an array of talent doing almost 100% perfect covers of 80s tunes is back. The kids have just announce a few details about it and we have them to break.
