The Braincast is not so called because it unusually filled with penetrative insights, but because if you listen to it this weekend it will be while I am down at the Brainlove Festival either listening to bands, DJing or sneaking off to watch the Champions League final at the nearest pub. This week is another relatively haircut-friendly playlist actually, with words like 'remix' to be found and some fashionably hazy production and everything. In fact I may have to do another 'tedious old shite' podcast soon, just to make up for it. Anyhow, next week looks [...]

Well there's no real way of stitching this little lot together coherently, so I suppose a big old pile of stuff in no sensible order is the only real way to do it. Edinburgh School for the Deaf have a new single out. It's digital download only, so I can't very well put it up here for you, but you can expect a song in this week's podcast, so keep an eye out there. For those disinclined to wait, you can simply pop over here and buy a copy from [...]

Nashville-based duo Jensen Sportag is made of Austin Wilkinson and Elvis Craig, two eccentric boys who define their music as "R&B-brushed electro". They might not be used to being in the spotlight but they are definitely no rookies: their collaboration started back in 2006 and they have produced a pretty impressive body of work. Jensen Sportag - Jackie Their latest EP, Pure Wet , was released last February to rave reviews and sure deserves a few words. Steeped in timeless grooves, this four-track mini album is [...]

Edinburgh, Scotland "Warm Welcome" Silver Columns on MySpace Silver Columns on Facebook Silver Columns on Last.fm Silver Columns on The Hype Machine

Been revisiting quite a lot of Beyond The Wizards Sleeve stuff recently inspired by this Jon Savage Podcast and the utterly brilliant Live at Manchester G-Mex mix . Anyway, this is a bit old now but still a great piece of space disco from Richard Norris' post-BTWS project ' The Time And Space Machine '. Silver Columns - Cavalier (Time and Space Machine Remix)

Hercules & The Love Affair - Painted Eyes (Moonlight Matters Remix) After his remixes for Digitalism, Silver Columns and The Drums, Sebastiaan Vandevoorde (aka Moonlight Matters , ex-Villa) works his magic on Hercules and Love Affair's track 'Painted Eyes'. Amazing!

Aquí tenéis el nuevo Mixtape de Como Las Grecas, temas seleccionados por todos nuestros colaboradores, en este caso de los meses de Noviembre y Diciembre de 2010. La mezcla de este Mixtape corre a cargo de Popout! . Esperamos que os guste... MUSIC IS THE WEAPON ARCHIVO ZIP MIXTAPE CLG VOL.5 (NOV/DIC) Como Las Grecas Mixtape Vol5 Mixed by Popout by Popout!

Just like their fellow Belgian production duo Aeroplane , it turns out the Nu-disco team Villa have split with Sebastiaan Vandevoorde going solo under his new moniker Moonlight Matters . Having already proved himself via Villa, Seba has scored some great remix opportunities and has recently remixed Silver Columns , the new Digitalism single Blitz and famous surf rock band The Drums ' new single Me & The Moon. Each remix being wonderfully unique, strangely hypnotising and catchy. Looking forward to hearing some originals, but in the meantime these [...]

Welcome to the second installment of the Song, by Toad Festive Fifty for 2010. Yesterday I explained why I am going to have to exclude Song, by Toad Records music from my end of year lists from now on, and today I am going to explain (i.e. make feeble excuses for) some of the inconsistencies and idiosyncrasies you might perceive in this particular list. There are certain albums, for example, which just don't yield edited highlights all that easily. There are no songs by Mount Erie or The Books, for example, because I found it next to impossible [...]

Welcome to the start of this year's Song, by Toad Festive Fifty, where I list, in order, my favourite fifty songs of the year. As with the albums of the year, I have had to exclude Song, by Toad Records bands from this list. Partly this is to stop me inevitably wounding the pride of whichever bands fared less well than their label mates, and partly to stop the label collectively dominating this list too much. I don't think the concept of objectivity is possible, or even all that relevant, when it comes to discussing what music you [...]

" Moonlight Matters is what happens when the sun goes down, The mood is right, and creativity is set loose... " Sebastiaan Vandevoorde already has some mileage on the counter of his vintage synth stacked studio. After 1.5 years of being the Composer/Producer of another Belgium based act called Villa where he remixed Moby, Gorillaz, Keane, Ali Love and Findlay Brown; sculpted exquisite reworks of Tina Turner, Agneta Falstag and Anita Meyer; scored a summer hit with Beats of Love , and played the best venues and Festivals from Fabric/Social Club/Razzmatazz to [...]

Yo time to show some support for UKs Johnny Lynch and Adem as Silver Columns and their newy 'Brow Beaten'. Why you may ask? Well its about time you put that Girl Talk mash album down and Robyn single to sleep and gargle your brain with some up-tempo'd cosmic pop. The original offers up some jittery plucking and industrial 90s power vox whilst remixes from JD Twitch of Optimo, Donovan, Kings of Town and Moonlight Matters all take things into their own hands to bend this into unnatural shapes and sizes. Picks are [...]

SILVER COLUMNS - Brow Beaten (Original) [...]
It what feels like a horrible piece of deja vu Villa's main production man Sebastiaan Vandevoorde has decided to leave Belgium disco outfit and start a new moniker under the name of Moonlight Matters. It's like Aeroplane all over again. But once again it's a very amicable split - if that's possible. As with all of these Belgium splits - both Villa and Moonlight Matters will go onto great things, we have no doubt. Seb has already done a retro futuristic remix of Digitalism's new track Blitz, which of course Villa remixed a few weeks ago - [...]

Moonlight Matters is the new project of Sebastiaan Vandevoorde who used to be in Villa until six weeks ago and is still in Clashes... I think . While it is most sad that another Belguise disco outfit has gone separate ways, we should look at the positive and the positive is that Moonlight Matters is already shaping up to be very awesome indeed. Seba has already gone a got a couple of remixes under his belt, the first is of Digitalism's "Blitz", because of various reasons it didn't make the vinyl but it's still considered an [...]

German super-duo of Digitalism released their latest EP on Kitsuné in November. It's a solid release but it was when I first got my hands on the remix of "Blitz" by Moonlight Matters I had to make this post. Moonlight Matters is the solo project of Seba, one of the guys from well-respected Villa. But Moonlight Matters is from now-on the act to keep track off, because Seba was the mastermind behind Villa in producing that lovely sounds of melodic disco. With Villa he remixed everything from old 70s disco to Gorillaz and The [...]
After wisely posting their stellar Surf Noir EP up on the myspace-killing Bandcamp for several months, the UW duo (Jordan Koplowitz and Reed Juenger) Beat Connection wisely pulled it down when they had reached a record deal with a Moshi Moshi Records partner last month. To keep us bounce freaks happy and the promotion machine in full gear, however, there is now a one-song "promotional remix" available on their page. I SUGGEST LISTENING TO IT DAMMIT . [...]
