While listening to Breakbot's dj set i've noticed he played this "Get Up And Boogie" from Silver Convention (1976). This remix is from the Australian duo Yasumo formed by Yanni Nair & Simon Salerno. I just thought it was a good idea to share, just in case you didn't know this version. It's so good that i can't stop replaying it. Get Up and Dance!!! Follow Golden Scissors on Facebook

Yanni Nair and Simon Salerno are the disco/funk/French-house duo Yasumo from Melbourne, Australia. They have released a sleuth of amazing tracks, mostly which are available free on their soundcloud . The fellas influences range from Chromeo to Earth, Wind and Fire and have an impressive remixery as well as support from the likes of Grum (!). There's not much else, except I highly recommend that you get involved as soon as humanly possible. If you are a fan of everything and anything disco, and you're unaware of Yasumo, [...]

Ra Ra Riot are an indie rock band most akin to Vampire Weekend (one member from each band collaborated last year as Discovery ). But instead of fawning over their new release, as I did with Vampire Weeekends, I only downloaded their latest single on a whim. Ra Ra Riot have never managed to grab my attention and I don't seeing their latest effort doing any better, but the single, Boy , is awesome. The Chemical Brothers are one of the legendary electronic music acts who I've never delved into. I [...]

Continuing on a disco path here's Noodleman , a deep disco dj/producer from our close neighbor to the north. Reworked, reedited and heavily buttered, I'm really liking his stuff. He's signed to the Toronto label, Vibing Records, who's motto is cooking deepness and enjoying serving it to people. The Noodleworks 001 EP will be released this Thursday, February 11th. Just The Kick is as far as I can tell a new project from Remco Durez , a Belgian producer with a fine taste for music! He sent us a promo pack filled with banging remixes. Louis La Roche describes his own genre as "French House" and "New Disco" and I think Remco Durez or Just the kick matches that same description. Very funky remixes that will get all the funky people on the dancefloor. Divine - Native Love (Remco Durez' Cycle Sluts Remix) Remco Durez Pres Just [...]

I was actually not sure about posting an edition of Sample Wednesday this week, until I got into a very brief yet poignant conversation with one of my editors at GIANT Magazine (sidenote: the Pharrell feature in the next issue- crazy!) Scott Poulson-Bryant regarding why Method Man didn't become one of the greats. When Wu-Tang first dropped, he clearly was the shining star and he seemed to have it all: a mean swagger, an incredibly distinct voice (pre-Jadakiss, Ludacris, etc) that sounded like it was fully coated in asphault, and reluctant rugged prettyboy charm. So what happened? The question never [...]
