Oh, man, I hate the Silversun Pickups. As if this wasn't a hard enough task to start with, they keep cluttering the search with their own particular brand of sludge. Still, this is one mainly for the ears: [Part of the by-public-demand Silver Sun weekend ] -- Visit No Rock & Roll Fun to comment, complain and kvetch
There have been requests, and it turns out I cave easily. I should start with a brief confession: I never much cared for Silver Sun myself. I suspect this is because their gigs and Evening Session appearances and so on managed to keep eluding me, and so I tended to have them filed away as 'the band that has badly drawn dodos in their adverts' and 'oh, god, they're a bit like fucking Kingmaker' in my mind. So, second chances all round then. Silver Sun are apparently a going concern still, but only [...]

Crystal Stilts release a video for the track Silver Sun off of their new LP In Love With Oblivion. Dig it.

Crystal Stilts quite good new album, In Love With Oblivion , is out today, and here is another enticer to get you to check it out. As a song, "Silver Sun" seems both bright and murky, living up to its title and the overall aesthetic of the band. The clip also feeds into this, using haunting black and white imagery to balance the song that can at times feel bouncy and hopeful. If you like paradoxes, Crystal Stilts are for you. Check out the video for "Silver Sun" below. [...]

Taken from Crystal Stilts new album In Love with Oblivion comes the David Klein-directed clip for the Byrds-tinged "Silver Sun". The 8mm video features colorless and grainy footage of the band rehearsing, lounging about and the snowy outdoors. Crystal Stilts will perform at L.A.'s Natural History Museum on May 6th. (via P4K )
catchy jangle and pitch-perfect harmonies via the CRYSTAL STILTS latest SILVERSUN video. wotyougot

Crystal Stilts — Silver Sun I never spent much quality time with Crystal Stilts ' 2008 debut (silly, I know), and In Love With Oblivion is quickly revealing the error of my ways. The new album sands off some of Alight 's rough edges, but the band's still dealing in dusty, throwback pop and righteous campfire anthems. "Silver Moons" pulls no punches, breezing along an impossibly catchy jangle and pitch-perfect harmonies. Oblivion [...]
I mean, I dig Dee and the boys, but c'mon. We're not gonna take it is right. Anyway, I was emailing with Ross from yesterday's 'First Date' and he tells me he's enjoying the 'Bullshit' feature (which really should be a weekly thing, right?) So, he shoots me this: "I am actually a big fan of Aimee Mann's Christmas show she usually does at Birchmere around Christmas, and her Christmas album. She is my favorite singer/songwriter of all time, and I own all of her albums. But it's the fact that [...]

Silver Sun for me were power pop indie at it's very best, their debut album eponymous album was released way back in 1997 (this whole nostalgia trip making me feel awful old). They band went off on hiatus in 1999, before regrouping in 2005 to record two new albums. For me these never quite lived up to the early days, but they're still worth hunting down. Silver Sun - Lava
Four times a day, often at half hour stretches...there's plenty of time for reflection and the mind to wander. A song to sing. A record to recall. Pete just sniffs along too. The perfect spot is here – no, there. Here – no, there. And no perceived lack of shame to be doing it outdoors at the height of the evening's rush hour. Business men wind their way around Pete's business. I recall my dad saying goodbye to Pete the morning he left for the hospital before his heart operation. 'I'll be back...' he said in [...]
It was the Camden Crawl at the weekend. I wasn't much interested in this year's festival, but it's the perfect time to mention a CD I found the other day when clearing out a bunch of old stuff. The free Camden Crawl compilation from 1997. Things were different then. No big-name ...
Oh. My. S***. This is what we're talking about! Silversun Pickups are back with more Californian fuzzy guitar greatness. They're also back with more tight close-ups and strobe effects than necessary but hey, being in a rock band is all about indulgence so how can we judge them for it? Especially when it rocks so hard that it makes us want to throw out every record we own that has a sample, sequencers or the suffix "remix".

The Los Angeles based rockers plan to release their new album Swoon on April 14th, three days before they are set to play Coachella Festival. According to their record labels site , the album took 14 months to record and the debut single is titled 'Panic Switch' - which will be available on iTunes March 17th. - Brent Koepp
by phil miller Silversun Pickups have released some details on the follow-up to their debut album, Carnavas (one of the better albums the last five years, in my opinion). Titled Swoon , the album is due out early next year on Dangerbird with Carnavas producer Dave Cooley again, turning the knobs. Frontman Brian Aubert hinted at an eclectic mix of mellow/heavy of sounds on the record. "It doesn't need to [...]

Eight years ago this weekend, my friend Anne put a gun to her head and killed herself. I wrote a little bit about it here not too long ago. Last winter as I stood waiting to get the bartender's attention at the Friday Night Haunt, I looked to my left and spotted friend of hers and with more than a few in me I said, "Hey, didn't you used to be the drummer in so-and-so band? I think we have a friend in common." "Oh yea" he says as his date begins to gush [...]
