Silverstein - Short Songs Release date: February 7, 2012 I've never heard these guys, but I can only assume that no matter how good they actually were, they were terrible. After all, they were on Victory during the label's great decline in the early 2000s. Whatever their quality, few things scream rock and roll more than broken guitars and a grungy sans serif.

We here at Punknews consider the War on Christmas to be a 365 day a year undertaking. To further distract you from, "The reason for the season," we have best of lists from Scotty Sandwich ( The Sandwiches , Death To False Hope Records), Nate Gangelhoff ( Banner Pilot ), and Paul Koehler ( Silverstein ). Check back as we round out the finality of our year with more lists telling you what's important this year.

Silverstein gave us all a laugh on Monday with an exclusive cover/parody of NOFX 's "It's My Job To Keep Punk Rock Elite," poking fun at this very website. If you haven't yet [...]

Some weeks are better than others when you write about music. Sometimes the perfect album appears early on and you've finished your post in short order. On the flip side, sometimes you have to trudge through a lot of records to find the one that sparks something. Lately the latter has been true for me. I started out with Holy Ghost! by Holy Ghost!. First of all, the punctuation included in their name pisses off the grammar lover in me. I just had to put a period after an [...]

Saosin - You're Not Alone "Spoiled rotten, confused by the lies shes been fed, She's searching for no one (but herself)" Oh Saosin, where are you? I'm not really into hardcore music, so this is maybe as hardcore as I get, and I know that isn't saying much. This song is great though, and just the title itself is encouraging. But if anyone can put on a good show its these guys. The lead singer is full of energy, and had the crowd pumped when I went to see them. So if you haven't [...]

Every time you feel the need to bitch about tours like Ozzfest, The Cool Tour, or any other summer package-fest-thinger, just close your eyes, take a deep breath, and tell yourself: suffering is relative. Yes, those tours might not have the strongest line-ups imaginable, but they do have good bands on them, and things could [...]

Toronto's El Mocambo is packed to the gills, and It's all for Silverstein . The temperature belies the fact that this Canada and March, but the diverse throng of concert goers care little about the temperature inside, outside or in Iqaluit for that matter. Neither does the band, about to take the stage. Celebrating ten years of being a band, Burlington's favourite post hardcore sons, if not their current best, what up Dead and Divine , have taken up residence at the Elmo for a four night stint. Each night is dedicated to one [...]
