Just about as soon as they opened the gates to Rock the Garden, the clouds decided let loose a few inches of rain on to the slew of garden rockers. It wasn't really anything anybody seemed too concerned about, rather a twist on the adventure; like putting hot sauce on your frozen pizza. Due to the rain a somewhat spontaneous shuffle ushered the early birds into the parking garage where Dan Deacon played a set that was described to me by another as... well, let's just say it involved robots and intercourse. In other words, it [...]

All unfiltered bombast on "Dream Machines", Big Deal drape themselves in a blighted, shouting fatalism. "Dream Machines", slamming with double-tap drums and a boy-girl duet sounds like Joy Formidable (and it's worth noting that Big Deal are the heirs to this throne) covering a Stars joint, dream-pop holding a long kiss goodnight with shoegaze. One of the biggest songs of the year, it's a world of moral victories and letdowns, as singer Alice Costelloe leads from above with lines like, "Nothing here is built to last / what you wanted and what you chose [...]

With Silversun Pickups unleashing their Sinner new music video, I've been reminded as to how much I've neglected these LA dream-pop-rockers of late. The post Don't Look The Other Way appeared first on wotyougot .
There are a few things you can learn from going to BFD, Live 1052s annual concert at Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountain View. Among these are that people will wait in huge lines to spin any prize wheel, it can take over an hour to go from the highway exit to a parking space, and there's [...] The post Show Review: Live 1052s BFD at Shoreline Amphitheater, 5/19/2013 appeared first on Spinning Platters .

The annual KROQ Weenie Roast can be a pretty predictable affair — the rock radio giant's favorite bands playing their rock radio hits — but the early summer affair is often good for a surprise or two. And so it was at the 21st annual Weenie Roast on Saturday at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre, when Stone Temple Pilots showed up as the surprise guest and Linkin Park's Chester Bennington showed up as the fill-in for STP's troubled vocalist Scott Weiland. Bennington sang several of STP's hits and the new song "Out of Time." The rest of [...]

Photos by Dan Schenker Photography When you go to a rock show on a special holiday, you never know what to expect from the crowd. When that special holiday is Cinco de Mayo, you really don't know what to expect from the crowd. An uneasiness settled in when I first arrived at The Wellmont Theater, located in the heart of Montclair, New Jersey, for that very reason. Were attendants there to support the bands and have a good time or get drunk out of their minds? I was in no mood [...]

Of Monsters and Men Well, it's one of those times when it's VERY late at night, so I won't really say a lot on this post. There's a lot of good music to hear. Just click the link below :) Countdown #149 ***Featuring*** Beck Capital Cities Imagine Dragons Lovelife The Lumineers Mumford & Sons Muse The Neighbourhood Of Monsters and Men Silversun Pickups Thirty Seconds to Mars

Muse That's right! Debut month continues as we welcome another song to the big show. Hehe. That's what they call the Major Leagues in baseball. I'm implying that my countdown podcast is as attractive to these bands as making it to the major leagues. I'm truly a humble, handsome man. Countdown #148 ***Featuring*** Beck Capital Cities Imagine Dragons The Lumineers Mumford & Sons Muse The Neighbourhood Of Monsters and Men Silversun Pickups Thirty Seconds to Mars

"Forget everyone," intones Wolf Alice singer, Angela Carter, in the midst of the propulsive opening movement of recent single, "Bros". It's an easy request from this London quartet, as exploding post-punk guitars ricochet off one another in a super-heated arrangement that removes any idle thoughts of anything or anyone else. "Bros" manages to sound a lot like a dreamy version of Silversun Pickups, "Lazy Eye" - admittedly, this comparison could start and stop with the drum pattern - mixed with Carter's spot-on Chrissy Hynde impression. And it is this, the Pretenders comparison, that sticks [...]

Imagine Dragons Pay close attention to this episode. You can hear my voice start strong, proving that my health is almost back to normal, and then get gradually weaker as the evening that I recorded most of it progresses and you start to hear how I sound when I've been up for too long! At this point, it's going to be weird when a new song DOESN'T debut on an episode. We're on the third episode in a row to have a new song on the chart :) [...]
This Atlanta five-piece’s third album is an excellent road trip through America’s musical south. Live stream sample it here...

Atlas Genius I don't know if you'll believe it based on the quality of my voice at some points in this podcast, but I am actually feeling better! It's just that annoying thing where the remnants of colds stick around for weeks. So annoying. Hopefully you won't be annoyed by this week's countdown, though! (I don't know why you would be....I mean, it's a pretty silly thing to be annoyed at. I was just making a smooth transition.) April's "Debut-Every-Week" trend continues! Enjoy it! [...]
