The Eversons : "I'm a Conservative" Not that I plan to bring up last night's GOP debate—except for just that one time—but kiwi crooners The Eversons bring a tasty pop groove sans conservative holds. It's downright teeth-sinking at times. Mark Turner's voice (both he and his pipes formerly of Little Pictures) carries each tune with languid pacing and jovial jabs. Cutting cracks in a cute way? Count me in. You can snag their April release The Eversons EP via Lil' Chief Records at a pay-what-you-want price or go tangible [...]

Apparently rapper Eternia's got a sister? Jessica Kaya has moments of jazz, with subtle keys and singer songwrite softness on her Imperfections EP. The appropriately titled EP is a collection of unmixed demo's, incompletes, and raw home recordings. I'd say Fake It is probably the closest to a full on track but the "samples" on this EP are beautiful. Love the sound, love the quiet, and definitely looking forward to upcoming releases. It gets better; the EP is FREE . Dude isn't Free music just so dope? Thank you to the LoveInUs Collective . Check [...]

Well, honestly, I was never the hugest Priscilla Ahn fan. I feel like there were so many other singer songwriter types that were making their ways into my ears, musta drowned it out. I just finished listening to her new album, When You Grow Up, rolling out May 3rd. Thoroughly diggin' it. You can't deny that pop but much like the album title, the pop sounds more mature, the acoustic: a bit more seasoned. I sometimes get Norah Jones-y, Cat Powerness feelings on tracks like City Lights (Pretty Lights) but with a slight tinge of [...]

So last year, I did a series called "12 Days of Christmas Music" and it was great! Very much a lot of fun! But this December was kind of hectic, very much a lot of busy. So I'm going to have to make you wait until next year for a comprehensive, 12-day tour de force of Christmas music. But you didn't think I'd leave you empty-handed, did you? Coal in the ol' music blog stocking? Instead, I put together Knox Road's very first Christmas Mix! It's seven songs long, so it's more of an EP mix, if you will. [...]

The Music Alliance Pact (MAP) is a collaboration between 25 blogs from 25 countries, and every month on the 15th (yeah, I know I am late posting this!) all the blogs post the same post, - this one -, with 25 songs and band-presentations from the countries in the Music Alliance Pact. Eardrums represents Norway, and this time we will tell you about a wonderful band called Maribel. The countries and the songs are listed alphabetically below. Enjoy the Music Alliance Pact!

MEXICO : Club Fonograma Mr. Racoon - Ferry 3 Mr. Racoon is one of several projects by Roberto Polo, among them 60 Tigres and Fuck Her, Or The Terrorists Win . This is by far his most charming moment yet. His music unfolds the very best of a prolific songwriter that, as opposed to what his music may sound like, is a maximalist taking the lo-fi production and his shimmering voice to heroic amplitudes. Ferry 3 is a cut [...]

Here's April's edition of the Music Alliance Pact . For those of you who don't know about MAP, it's a collection of music blogs from around the world who band together once a month to shed light on up-and-comers from their home countries. It's sort of like the WTO without the human rights violations. This month we're keeping the MAP participation at a nice even quaternarial 25 nations, at least for now. Some of you expressed how much of a pain in the ass it is to sift through 25 songs for [...]

It's MAP time again. This month I'm enthusing about Blue Roses, as I have here quite a lot already. The more I hear that album, the better it gets. But there's a lot more of good worldwide stuff here. Check it out. AMERICA: I Guess I'm Floating 4 Lands & Peoples ...

Xenophobia; cheese; campness; political voting; broken English; fake smiles; gimmicks, backstabbing. Yes, Eurovision Song Contest weekend is here and it's so bad it's good. Perhaps, in some subconscious level, Eurovision inspired our decision to launch the Music Alliance Pact, the monthly multinational inter-blogging extravaganza. Scary thought. As ever, we've rounded up the world's most clued-up music bloggers and persuaded them to share their favourite song from their homeland and write a few words about it. Then post the entire list on their own websites. We start with a band called BOYCOTTS [...]

However, the songs do exist in the archive with all the songs, and can be listened if/when you get it all] AMERICA: I Guess I'm Floating [...]
AMERICA: I Guess I'm Floating 4 Lands & Peoples – Awake Baltimore-based Lands & Peoples seem to have a knack for hypnotherapy. With a commanding ethereal ambience and gorgeous catatonic tensions throughout, Awake is an eye-opener from start to finish. You'll ask, "How have I not heard of them?" and "I can't believe they aren't signed!" Well, [...]

It's Complicated, OK! Leaving Hamilton earlier this year, Heather Hayward, Michelle Savill and Gradon Diprose left behind their band mate Wendy Richdale and moved to Wellington. Jeremy Liss then joined the band after being introduced to Heather and Gradon by some mutual friends. Formed about a year ago, The Sings Songs started as neighbours in Hamilton; became friends; moved to Wellington; reacquainted themselves with old friends; met another friend and went on holiday together. The band jokingly say, "we wanted to be called Holiday With Friends, but it was already [...]
