First J Mascis put a pretty stupefied spin on Phoenix' Entertainment, and now the buck stops with Dev Hynes, aka Lightspeed Champion, aka Blood Orange who, in a bizarre twist of fate, has roped in dejected onetime Sugababes Mutya Keisha Siobhan to chip in some almost unfeasibly impeccable pop harmonies on what aurally resembles a cut and paste patchwork quilt of contemporary musical culture. From the princely Purple Rain guitar solo the middle eight comes showered in, to the humid R'n'B rhythmic agitation, the primordial Balearic mating calls à la Crystal Fighters as the [...]

Girls Aloud wasn't the only girl group ringing in the New Year with something new. MKS -the holy trinity of Mutya Buena , Keisha Buchanan and Siobhan Donaghy (also known as the Origibabes)-made their secret live comeback last night. WHAT. YES, it's a fact: The iconic UK girl group trio teamed up for the first time in 12 years (!!!) on stage for Ponystep 's New Years Eve party last night [...]

This is a pop fan's wet dream come true. Mutya Keisha Siobhan , the three original Sugababes are officially back together and releasing music very shortly. While you can read a lot about it on Popjustice (who had the exclusive first interview), let's all remind ourselves of the brilliance of the whole thing. 1/ Overload : easily one of the 46 best songs of all time [...]

Now that they have all been kicked out, the original Sugababes (which was their best line-up) are back. They have reportedly signed a deal that's worth a million pounds and are ready to venture out on their own. The threesome are set to take on what they started with One Touch. Let's hope their sound is as experimental and pop-friendly as it used to be. Also, let's hope this time the other two girls are nice to Siobhan Donaghy. Click here for more. The drama continues. The original line-up of the Sugababes (the way we liked them) are back together according to a few not-so-mysterious tweets here and there, allegedly. The two ladies who have active twitter accounts - Mutya and Keisha - have both tweeted that they are in the studio with two other ladies. Hmmm. This is not rocket science as the girls have expressed discontent with what has happen with "their" band. And to us, the band has totally jumped the shark after Keisha left. Let's hope we hear from the original line up real soon! [...]

Ah, Sugababes — a hugely-successful UK act that has even warmed the cockles of a small but loyal legion of followers here in the States. Unfortunately, as the original members of the girlie trio have dwindled one-by-one and been replaced over the course of the band's 14-year history, all we're left with is the shell of a trio that attempted to release a new single last year ( "Freedom" ) — only to have it yanked by the label — and that is pretty much on hold while Heidi Range takes part in Dancing On Ice . Thankfully, the [...]

The Sugababes are, aside from Girls Aloud , generally regarded as the UK's most successful girl group of the 21st century. With dozens of chart-topping hits-from "Overload" to "Freak Like Me" to "About You Now"-five Top 10 albums and dozens of awards to their name, the 'Babes have consistently slayed for well over a decade-although not all as one defining unit. Yet as much as the girls have become known for being a legendary powerhouse troupe of soulful divas, they've earned themselves just as strong of a reputation for the revolving door status of [...]

Ellie Goulding is an unlikely pop star. Her public image is subdued, even self-effacing; her voice is a gorgeous, fragile wisp that would sound more at home at a coffee shop than layered over a bouncing synth track; her lyrics are imbued with an aching vulnerability that most singer-songwriters would kill for. But like some other sonic greats who have paired distinctive vocals with dance beats — like Björk or Siobhan Donaghy — Ellie's music derives much of its power from its pop sound. Likable, accessible, and danceable, her work with producers [...]

With the fate of the Sugababes now resting on a dodgy Greatest Hits release out in late February and a hope and a prayer that their remaining fans still remember which three babes are still in the band (one of them is T-Boz , right?), the absence of OG member Keisha Buchanan has never been felt so strongly. But in her absence, she's been rull busy-and the results are now starting to crop up. After the release of a fairly amazing solo clip called "Fearless" back in [...]

Nadine Coyle has an insatiable ego. After rejecting a major label bid war in favor of an exclusive distribution deal at Tesco , reportedly declining an X Factor performance invite, and forgoing all contact with her (former) Girls Aloud band members for almost a year, Nadine Coyle has made it a point throughout the entire recording and promotional process of her new-found solo career that she’s going to produce and promote the music her own way—and she doesn’t need your help, thank you very much. [...]

There was talk of the Charlotte Church comeback suggesting she was picking up the wispy, ethereal pop sound of Siobhan Donaghy's incredible second album, 'Ghosts'. After all, all the signs were there - the dreamy photography, the bugs all over her face... However, that all came crashing down when Charlotte Church instead sort-of-remade Texas' horrible 'Say What You Want' (The Worst Song Of All Time) with an exercise ball and one of her bedsheets instead. What follows is rather disappointing. It is Charlotte Church's new single, 'Back To Scratch'. A song which is not [...]

MuuMuse Approved Tracks for the Week of August 1, 2010 5. Siobhán Donaghy - Goldfish On the train ride home from the city after having seen Robyn perform live, I needed a musical come-down in the worst of ways. Cue ex-Sugababes crooner Siobhán's second studio effort, Ghosts-an insanely underrated offering of shimmering, ambient alt-pop. [...]

This Day - World Hepatitis Day We didn't know there was a day to raise awareness to hepatitis B and C, but today (19th May) it's World Hepatitis Day . The World Hepatitis Alliance has been working with musicians from around the world to develop a charity album. Titled This Day , the album is an eclectic collection of collaborations by artists. Here's one track called ' Sounds Like a Plan ' by CirKus featuring ex-Sugababe Siobhan Donaghy . [...]
It's my fault for not discovering her sooner...but I'm so glad that I finally have. This is El Perro Del Mar , otherwise known as Sarah Assbring, a Swedish artist making pop happen since 2006. I could say that the music she makes, a combination of drippy, ambient pop, distorted strings and a simple, Lykke Li -like delivery, is nothing short of lush. But it's my friend David, who, after introducing me to her music, described it best: " Fleetwood Mac on pills in the 90's...It's what [...]

According to HolyMoly , Keisha, Siobhan, and Mutya are reforming as the original Sugababes trio once again. Apparently, it's not just a vague rumor floating in the stratosphere: The site reports that the girls are already in meetings with producers and labels (reportedly William Orbit and Warner Records, respectively.) Additionally, Mutya all-but-confirmed that she is , at the very least, working with Keisha in an interview a few nights ago in Croatia. Too exciting! I wonder what they'll call themselves? Sugawomen?

A UK gossip site is reporting that the three original members of the girl group Sugababes-Keisha Buchanan, Mutya Buena, and the completely brilliant Siobhán Donaghy , all of whom have left the band since it was formed way back at the turn of the millennium-are in negotiations to reform, and put out an album. This bit of rumormongering comes in the wake of the announcement that the forthcoming album by the current incarnation of the band, the American-audience-tilted Sweet 7 , has been pushed back to next February amidst internal strife of the [...]
