I haven't been back home to DC for a couple of months now, but I do have an appeal to make to anyone who enjoyed the great pleasures of Eastern Market before it burned. Buy a T-shirt , now. You can also send an e-mail to your Senators telling them that you support DC Voting rights. Some Download Fun: Sir Salvatore - Hooray This Projector Cute, cheerful indie rock for your next stroll through the city. Think Built to [...]
Well readers, today is 2 days past exactly a year after we first started posting together. I've no cheesecake or presents at my doorstep, so I shall be awaiting things like such to be present after school. Does anyone even like gelatin anymore? Sir Salvatore is a young band from San Fran (not too many bands from there) playing fine rock n' roll. In fact, one of the members (Dave) is Canadian! This means they fall under CANCON for fulfilling the MAPL requirements--therefore they will be played on CJAM 91.5 fm! Czeck them out. [...]

The pick this week comprises an eclectic mix of mailbag contributions and the best of the blogosphere buzz. First off it appears that British group The Crimea, in an attempt to garner support from the crowds across the Atlantic (after being dropped by Warner), have released their third full length album for free on their website. That's right sports fans their whole album for download for free right here. Just to sweeten the deal the zip file is about 30M and is one of the fastest download sites I have experienced in a while. [...]

Six tracks on a self-released CD called Those Men Are Not Astronauts . LA based quartet Sir Salvatore is a rock band looking for a bigger audience. Sir Salvatore is: David Lean: guitar/vocals Alejandro Soini: drums/vocals Eric Szyslowski: guitar Tim Botsford: bass MP3: Sir Salvatore - Hooray This Projector MP3: [...]

Sir Salvatore are a great band out of San Francisco who recently released their debut EP titled Those Men are Not Astronauts. The band is comprised of four members David Lean - Guitar/Vox, Alejandro Soini - Drums/Vox, Eric Szyslowski - Guitar and Tim Botsford - Bass. Sir Salvatore has recently been compared to the likes of The Strokes, Tapes n' Tapes, Pavement, The Pixies, Polvo, Death Cab For Cutie and The Long Winters. Have a listen to the tracks below and judge for yourself, but my opinion is that they are a great band with a great sound who hopefully [...]

I'm mostly doing this as a favor for my peoples but since I don't post as much rock ish as I used/want to and these cats are from the T.dot, why not? The Cliks live at the Mercury Lounge tomorrow (May 1) at 9pm. Maybe they'll do the cover of Justin Timberlake 's "Cry Me A River" they have on their MySpace tomorrow? I've written about the split of Belarus just last week , and now it seems that all is not lost. Former band member Matt has decided to post some of the band's songs on two MySpace-sites, and is even trying to release the debut album somehow for interested fans. Very good news indeed! If you listen to the songs on those sites, you'll see that this is an album worth being released! http://www.myspace.com/belarus band [...]

Little Man, 29/04/07 Mirabile dictu! Generally speaking I dislike Sunday, but I must say this one has been lovely. And thus it is to be savoured. The sun came out in full splendour and melted the edge off our heretofore chilly spring. Dearest Wife is working horticultural magic in the garden. And Little Man & I had a grand old time running errands. Our father/son foray included a spin down to Granville Island to pick up some yum-scrum bangers at the Oyama [...]

San Francisco's Sir Salvatore sent me a letter announcing their new EP, "These Men Are Not Astronauts." Their web site includes complete mp3's of "Hooray This Projector" and Public Key , and they also have a nifty video for "Hooray This Projector" full of Atomic Age footage, including a view of the nearly-forgotten X-15 aircraft, which is much more watchable than most videos out today. I doubt if they'd prefer their sound to be called "80's" but the influences are obvious, and the guitar work really reminds one of both Randall [...]

I've lots of stuff that I'd like to post, but time is as always a very limited commodity these days (look at the burden I have to carry). So here are the songs and hopefully I'll be able to add a few comments during the day... + Tilde vs SuperTroels - Toss Away (SuperTroels Remix) + Pete White - The Light & Friction Makes Fire [...]

Sir Salvatore is a new band from San Fransisco and they are here to delivere yet another piece of eminent indie rock. Consisting of four men, the music they are making is classic indie with twanging guitas and lo-fi sound, a fact which becomes exceptionally explicit in "Hooray This Projector". Their first Ep was released at April 23rd and it has generated some well deserved attention in the blogosphere. In the six-song EP you will be able to here epic songs with notes hanging in the air as in the lukewarm Public Key provided below [...]
San Francisco chiama Rocksuckers. Ascolta: Projector Ascolta: Publickey
The e-mail box has yielded some particularly tasty music lately. Give these young bands a listen--I think you'll like them too. Kinetic Stereokids "Four frantic minds" from Flint, Michigan combine hip-hop influences and loops with Elliot Smith-type emo into an unconventional rock sound. This song has an unnerving repetition of a child's laughter threaded around the vocals. Verrrrry interesting. Kinetic Stereokids: Explosions Were Heard Stream Basement Kids CD here [...]

Sir Salvatore is an indie rock band from my stomping grounds, San Francisco. They play a blend of indie rock, math rock, and a touch of shoegazer. They have a cd release show for their debut EP, Those Men Are Not Astronauts , tonight at The Knockout in SF. I can hear bits of The Pixies, Pavement, and Polvo in their songs - check 'em out! Although I can pick out some influences, they definitely have developed a sound of their own. Kudos, boys! Sir Salvatore - Hooray [...]

Pretty spare in posting this week, sorry about that, but the weather has been spectacular and the work has been hectic. Have some good stuff in store for this coming week though, so stay tuned. Went down to Stevens Point last night to do try and remember what it's like to go out in a college town. Unfortunately, standing on the second level of a disco/metal bar drinking Newcastle and looking down to a dancefloor filled with overweight women who had their drinks stuffed in their cleavage only made me think of Baudrillard. Does that mean I'm old? [...]

San Francisco indie rock act Sir Salvatore has a new EP coming out this week titled Those Men Are Not Astronauts .
