Seemingly in the blink of an eye it’s the last day of the festival. After another early morning wake-up, breakfast and numerous cups of coffee I head to The Mesmerist to see a band I've featured a couple of times recently, Keebo . Their early set time doesn't do many favours and the punters that have managed to dust themselves off early all have a beleaguered look about them. The sound is muddy too which doesn't help but amongst all that there are some wonderful textured guitar sounds and intricate melodies entwining [...]
Posted in Play-This-List Sisters are Andrew, Aoife and Nile. All three originally hail from Limerick, but are now based in London. The young band have been on my radar for a while - being from my hometown, they've come up in conversation on more than one occasion. A couple of months back, my brother sent me a YouTube [...]

Facebook / sistersband.co.uk/ I'm currently gearing up for The Great Escape, they'll be a few more posts here this week before a bit of a blog holiday until I return and recover from three days of bands, booze and seaside fish & chips (I'd like to add sun but the weather forecast is abysmal). For now though, a new music post on a band I discovered during research for the festival, although seemingly I'm a little late to the party. Sisters are a London based (of Irish descent) trio with [...]

[Leon Vynehall] Brighton-based beat-maker Leon Vynehall chooses to hold on to his true identity. The DJ/producer has made some noise in the UK house scene as of late, and it easy to understand why as he effortlessly blends soul, funk, and disco music with the four on the floor sound we know and love. His latest cut, "Sister", is being represented by the folks at AUS Music , the label that has been putting forth work from other UK house producers such as George Fitzgerald and Bicep . The 123 [...]

Say Lou Lou nos presenta "Fool Of Me" el B-Side de "Julian". El track cuenta con la colaboración de Chet Faker y vendrá incluido en un 7" que lanzarán pronto junto a "Julian". Enjoy.

MP3: Hey Anna - "Dance Until Three" Shortly before my grandfather passed away a number of years ago, he gave me a collection of cassette tapes featuring big band and pop songs from the World War II era. A lot of the groups featured on these compilation tapes were girl groups, the kind with the sweetest, most golden harmonies -- to the point that they sounded just a notch above angelic. Outside the fact that their harmonies were immaculate and they were the epitome of charming, their songs were infectious. Way before auto-tune and [...]

Now that I’ve become acquainted with Mozart’s Sister, I don’t think I’ll be saying goodbye anytime soon. Merok Records, 2013 8.0 / 10 Self-describing her music as “bedroom paranoia”, Caila Thompson-Hannant, aka Mozart’s...

Sister Crystals , a psychedelic dream-pop band from Chicago, take their first tentative steps into the musical world with For So Long , the first song to be released from their forthcoming and self-titled debut LP. Only, these aren't tentative steps at all. For So Long is a noisy burst of shoegaze, the sweetly vibrant vocals well and truly holding their own against some hefty guitar workouts. Find out what else the band have in their locker when the record is released later this spring via Walk-In Records & Feeltrip Records . Grab a free download [...]

I am super mesmerized by this new track from L.A. "sister band" HAIM (think female Jonas Brothers but with talent). Expect great things from these girls in 2013. HAIM you're officially on my radar! Give the incredibly catchy "Falling" a listen below, and be sure to check out the video after the jump.

Les trois soeurs de Los Angeles, qui forment Haim , nous dévoilent le clip de leur titre Falling . Un titre pop, qui n'est pas sans rappeller le duo Chairlift . C'est cool haim ? -->
The SoCal sisters/future-pop band Haim are currently blowing up the blogosphere and considering they’re poised to tour with Mumford & Sons, you can expect their star to continue it’s ascent. I can’t deny I was digging this one. Had me bobbin my head. Falling is the lead single set to be released with an EP on April 1. It’s run time is a bit longer than warranted but overall Falling is a good track with a not-overly forced vintage feel to it.

The sister of late soul singer Marvin Gaye has debuted a new play about her brother's life in Detroit. The play, entitled My Brother Marvin , was premiered last night at the city's Fisher Theater, where it is set to run until Sunday (17 February). Zeola Gaye explained the premise in a press release: “Through the years, I became taken aback and disappointed with everything that had been written, said and published about my family, especially my brother Marvin that wasn't [...]
