Heavy is the head that wears the crown, but Smoke DZA makes a grab for the throne with the video for title track to his latest mixtape, “K.O.N.Y.” In the [...] The post Smoke DZA - "Independence Day" + "K.O.N.Y." Video appeared first on The Smoking Section .
The homie Dremur dropped a brand new song entitled "Planet X" but its obviously missing two additional X's. This vivid tale of lust between two lovers is on the level of a zane book, but not incredibly raunchy. I would consider it cleverly tasteful, and the production from Ski Beats fits the tone perfectly. It's smooth, allowing you to truly indulge in the story. This is my introduction to Dremur and it's a good one, hopefully more music is coming soon. A surprise switch up at the end shows that he indeed has some heat stored [...]
"While it would have been easy for Dremur to return to music with a rappity-rap track, he chose it would be best to come out the gate slow and steady after his long fast. Planet X explores the more sensual lyrical side that some might be familiar with, and those that are just finding out about the NYC emcee will now see. He chose to lace the Ski Beats produced instrumental to lay the musical groundwork for him to talk his ish." - Q Throat Chop Music

Harlem's Smoke DZA first caught hip-hop fan's attention back in 2010 with his impressive mixtape, George Kush Da Button . Since then, he consistently released strong projects, joined up with New Orleans veteran Curren$y' s Jet Life Recordings and put out one of the strongest hip-hop albums of the summer with Rugby Thompson , entirely produced by Harry Fraud. DZA is a talented lyricist with a gritty east coast flow and certainly has created his own brand of lifestyle raps. The self-proclaimed "Kushed God" released his most recent project yesterday boasting [...]
New Smoke DZA? Why not, right? Riiigggghhht. The New York native - who's made a name for himself on the strength of the most excellent Rugby Thompson LP, amongst many other fine projects - is back with a new mix tape, K.O.N.Y. What can you expect? Well, lots of 'riiiigggghhhhttt's for a start. This is Smoke DZA we're talking about here, after all. But there's also lots of top tuneage. Becasue just like the 'riiigghhhhtttt' catch call, it's what we've come to expect [...]

New remix to Whosane's "Smash Radio" featuring The Narcicyst, original produced by Ski Beatz.
Sixteen long (or short, depending on how you look at it) years ago, one of Hip-Hop's finest opuses was released. Reasonable Doubt is an album that would transition Jay-Z from an underground aficionado to a rap superstar, and it also changed the Hip-Hop game forever. Jay-z had been a hungry emcee as early as '89, and he was sick of the way that his label (Payday) had been promoting him; he decided to take things into his own hands, and he started Roc-A-Fella Records. Together with Priority Records, Roc-A-Fella Records released Reasonable Doubt . From the moment that Pain [...]
