Louise had a lovely birthday dinner (she made traditional Danish foods, and also there was a bowl of macaroni and cheese with hot dogs!), we played a rousing game of Apples to Apples, and now Tom, Thesy and I are watching Team America: World Police , which pathetic Thesy has never seen before. The pathetic girl. Hey, here's a mix tape! Please enjoy! RULES for uninitiated noobs : With roughly 100MB [...]
Neurosis have added four more bands to their day at Roadburn Festival entitled 'Beyond the Pale.' Recently added are Om , Six Organs of Admittance , A Storm Of Light , and Skullflower. This comes after the first four acts : The Young Gods , US Christmas , Akimbo , and Guapo were announced. The day of music will feature 15 bands hand selected by Neurosis (who are also playing, I'm not certain if they are included in the 15 band line up, or are [...]
Since writing about Sunroof! a few weeks ago, I've been exploring the back catalogue of Matthew Bower, or more specifically, his band Skullflower. Now, you have to understand that I am a man of taste and refinement, a man who is seldom (if ever) sick in public and who prides himself on his finely balanced critical sensitivities. All of this would have forever barred me from ever listening to a band named Skullflower. As a name it's just too gothy, too metal, too bloody obvious. Well, I'm glad I did. Sunset [...]

Image credit: Robert Gendler In the sixth instalment of this series I actually promised it would be the last. First up is a selection of heavy grooving and hypnotizing monsters to get back into the rhythm again. This is the 1st heavy-artillery regiment recalibrating your psyche so you'd better [...]
Another week has ended. A new week is set to begin. I hope your weekends went swimmingly. Maybe some of you even swam somewhere? The weather sure has been warm enough, right? I don't really know, I'm just saying that. For all I know eighty-five percent of the country could be covered in snow. Well, since you asked...my day was nice. I went shopping this morning for groceries and toiletries, then I had a good healthy lunch, and then I spent the afternoon joking around with Steve. We walked down the street drinking matching pink smoothies. It was [...]
Coughs (or The Coughs) play noise rock. Not your typical, annoying Lightning Bolt noise rock, but rather intense, heart pounding, vocal-cord-shredding madness. Best known for their breakout Fright Makes Right album released last year on Load Records, Coughs have raised the bar with their latest release Secret Passage . These two tracks will appear on Secret Passage , due out in mid-September. Coughs - Life of Acne [...]
