Things are moving incredibly fast for TesseracT right now: rumors started to circulate that they had a new vocalist on August 22nd, and now just a little over two weeks later they've already released a pre-production track with said new vocalist, ex-Sky Eats Airplane singer Elliot Coleman. The track is brand new and serves as [...]
(TesseracT 2k11! Official photo with new vocalist Elliot Coleman.) Yesterday the metalsphere with abuzz with the news that TesseracT had parted ways with vocalist Daniel Tompkins and had replaced him with Sky Eats Airplane / Of Legends vocalist Elliot Coleman. Instead of opting for the traditional route of announcing a band member swap with much [...]
Sometimes - albeit very, very rarely - it can suck working for Thrash Hits. Sometimes you get wind of a piece of news that you really, really want to share with the world, but for certain behind-the-scenes reasons, you just can't. Say - for example - when the vocalist of a band that one of [...]
One of the most frequent criticisms leveled at TesseracT has to do with their (now ex-?) vocalist Dan Tompkins; he always seemed out of place on stage, a clean-cut gentlemen with a bunch of scraggly longhairs. Those who don't like TesseracT will now seemingly have to find something else to pick on, as according to [...]

How do you find a band? You can scour the internet, looking for sound a-likes to your favorite bands, or bands with a lot of positive buzz. If you were in your sixties you could take recommendations from Rolling Stone where you could find out about hip young artists like Bruce Springsteen or U2. In the case of Sky Eats Airplane , I had a friend gush his brains out to me about how awesome they are. Hailing from Fort Worth and occupying a similar branch on the metalcore tree as [...]

This year has seen some fun stuff, like BuzzNet buying every music blog in the world, iTunes almost shutting down and Mexicans fighting the emos . Is that how far we've come? Yes it is. This year moshed my face; so glad to have some slick new stuff from Motorhead and Testament. And the newer stuff wasn't half bad either. Bravo to all the distortion pedals and skinny jeans - it's been a good year. 10. Celestine - At the Borders of Arcadia 9. [...]
by flip Miami-born artist Amanda Valdes is gaining steam and critical acclaim across South Florida. She claims music to be one of her largest inspirations as she paints the colorful and sometimes despondant "whores in her head." Valdes' works usually feature a single female subject as she "focuses on female identity and expressing herself through her creations." Lately she's been jamming to Metric, Billie Holliday, Sky Eats Airplane, and Peaches among others. The painting featured above is titled "This Conversation is Over" and was created while one of Alesana's [...]

Sky Eats Airplane defy classification. They combine crushing metalcore and varied electronica, including industrial, glitch and 8 bit video game sounds with jazz chord progressions and sing/scream vocals to create a new genre on their own. Formed in 2005 by vocalist Brack Cantrell and guitarist Lee Duck, they self released their first album. They received a lot of Myspace love but soon after, Cantrell left the band and Lee was forced to seek out a backing band and vocalist. Thus, Sky Eats Airplane views their second album, released on Equal Vision Records in July, as their first. Many of [...]

Photo by Doron When bands are on the road — entertaining unappreciative hipsters that double-fist cans of PBR, no less — things aren't always pretty. Sometimes they're downright scary. Maybe even horrific. Considering that the scariest holiday (no, not Housewife Day , Bittersweet Chocolate with Almonds Day or Marooned Without a Compass Day ) is almost upon us, we decided to give you some of those frightening tales straight from the ghoulish, possessed horse's mouth. Muahaha... maniacal laughing, you get the point. [...]

Jerry Roush of Sky Eats Airplane was surprised by their positive review that they got in Alternative Press: "They usually cut bands down. A lot of my friends' bands, I go and see what their album reviews are, and it's like 1½ stars. I feel bad for them. And then they give us 4½ out of 5. No way ! It's ridiculous." Tour dates with Senses Fail after the jump. Oct 14: [...]
The dudes in August Burns Red will be touring with Sky Eats Airplane , A Skylit Drive , Greeley Estates and This Or The Apocalypse . Hopefully they'll be getting fed three meals a day. Maybe they'll play in a spot like the one in the Composure video, which is after the jump with the tour dates. August 29 Champion Ship Lemoyne, Pennsylvania August 30 Revelation Generation Festival Frenchtown, New Jersey August 31 [...]

Another lovely write up from Warped Tour , this time from Montage Mountain which is the Pennsylvania stop, I think. Writes Lisa Sokolowski: After exiting the shuttle, concertgoers passed a volunteer handing out "Stop animal cruelty" booklets next to someone grilling and selling hot dogs. Loving it already! I can almost smell the irony! Instead of struggling record labels walking around selling albums for a buck, handing out samplers for free, it's more of a cattle call from behind the tent, hoping someone will walk over and [...]
