The annual Zeon's Christmas mix has finally seen the day, just in time. An hour and 15 mins of festive tunes. Delivered in 128kbps mp3s. With a thematically minimal cover. Also nicely wrapped in a zipped file for your convenience. So get those fingers working! Although the last thing you should do on Christmas Eve is to spend your precious time sitting at the computer to download some mp3s from a faceless blogger. Hope all is having a wonderful time with family & friends, with plenty of reasons to celebrate. There's something for everyone here, and some gems I've been [...]

I have a penchant for cover songs, so I was excited to come across this cover of the Gorillaz' Feel Good Inc, by Skye Edwards, the former frontwoman of trip hop band, Morcheeba. It was recorded live for KCRW. I don't know very much about Skye outside of Morcheeba (or even when she was in the band for that matter save for a few Morcheeba tunes on my iPod), but since she left the band in 2004, she's gone solo, and even came out with an album last year. Her rendition of Feel Good makes you [...]
Okay, I am kinda in a hurry so I'll make it quick. Here are two excellent covers I've recently discovered. The Genuine Fakes is a Stockholm-based trio that plays powerpop, according to their MySpace. They just did a cover of 'Irreplaceable' by Beyoncé , and if I can describe it effectively in just one word, that word is: jangly . Haven't checked out their own stuff, but what I just listened to is really nice. (Thanks to It's A Trap for the tips!) [...]

Last summer I was obsessed with remixes. I was also obsessed with James Figurine/Jimmy Tamborello . Well here's your chance to do a remix of your very own. Sub Pop Records is having a Dntel song remix contest. First prize is $500 and if you win your song will appear on a Dntel remix album. Sweet! Go here for the details . Contest ends May 29th. Oh yeah, Dntel is another one [...]
Skye, if that name rang a bell to you, used to be the vocalist for trip-hop/electronica band Morcheeba. She left the band to pursue a solo career, and her debut album is a quite good collection of relaxing, chill-out electronic pop song. I came across this cover yesterday and I just immediately fell in love with it. It's just one of those things that you know are gonna be great even before listening. One day she visited KCRW radio station, they asked her to do a cover, and she just reacted impromptuly and chose this song to sing. The whole [...]
