Þetta myndband úr sjónvarpsþættinum Fernwood Tonight frá 1977 er eitt það allra besta sem ég hef séð með meistara Tom Wait s. "I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy" er ein fleygasta setning sem nokkur tónlistarmaður hefur látið frá sér í sögunni.
Eitt af því áhugaverðasta sem ég hef heyrt undanfarin misseri er hið stórkostlega sólópródjekt Boy Eats Drum Machine en það er hugarfóstur Jon nokkurs Ragel . Ragel þessi er allt í senn lagasmiður, upptökustjóri, söngvari og plötusnúður auk þess að spila á saxófón, gítar, hljómborð og sjá um áslátt. Hans nýjasta plata Booomboxxx kom út nýverið og inniheldur hún fágætan bræðing af tilraunakenndu poppi og hip-hoppi með þykku lagi af saxófón og kröftugri rödd Jon Ragel . Ég fæ reglulega ánægjulegar sendingar í pósti. Í gær fékk ég plötu með söngkonunni Kim Ware en hljómsveit hennar, The Good Graces , var að gefa út sýna fyrstu plötu sem ber titilinn Sunset Over Saxapahaw . Hér er á ferð mjög hóvær og lágstemmd popptónlist með folk-áhrifum allsráðandi. Þeir sem ætla að loka sig inni með núðlusúpu og góða bók í kreppunni ættu að verða sér út um eintak af þessari plötu einnig.
