Kurt Ballou is the guitarist for Converge and runs/is Godcity Recording Studio. In both of these capacities he has been a big part of making some of my favorite music ever. Screw the commonly used term "arguably" – Converge's last record is their best/hardest record yet. And Kurt's recording style presents live-sounding documents of aggressive [...]
I'll tell you, I would love to be the Miles Davis of anything, even the Miles Davis of guys who eat coffee cake for breakfast every day. It's on my to-do list, right between "build a moat" and "hire reliable hench-poodles" .

Cool Hand Luke, Reggie Dunlop , Butch Cassidy ...classic characters. Boyish good looks, devilish charm : Paul Newman -- the legendary actor died Friday at his home in Westport , Connecticut from cancer. He was 83 years old. "She underlines the fuck scenes for ya? Jesus, if she underlines the fuck scenes for ya, she must worship the ground you walk on. " ~Reggie Dunlop After the jump.

With an astounding 4,160 episodes over 38 seasons, children everywhere are still managing to find their way to Sesame Street. First hitting the airwaves in 1969, Sesame Street is still going strong with season 39 coming your way August 11th with a swack of celebrity guest stars lined up including Jack Black, Feist, Will Arnett(!), David Beckham, Jessica Alba, and more. There have been hundreds of Sesame Street songs over the years, but just a handful of them are continually introduced to new generations of children (uh, don't quote me on that). I've chosen a bunch that [...]
Song: Gonna Find You Artist: Operation Ivy Album: Energy Comments: Jason Farrell tried to get me to listen to these guys back in 1989. He finally got me to listen to Dag Nasty after years of resistance. Still, I don't think we ever listened to this tape when we worked the Bagel Cart at Bryant College. This band featured Lars and Matt from Rancid. This song is about High School, pretty good, but I still don't understand the universal adulation that gets heaped upon this group. Song: [...]
Tonight is the season finale of Lost and the last lost for 38 or so weeks. They are going with the 24 format but with only 16 episodes a season. This is both good and bad. The station we last left Charlie in last week was the Looking Glass Station. The symbol was a rabbit. Since this is my last Lost related post for 38 weeks enjoy the references. Song: Black Rabbit Artist: Turbo Negro Album: Ass Cobra Comments: The band is inappropriate as their name indicates. [...]
Song: Teach me How To Die Artist: Farside Album: Monroe Doctrine Comments: The only problem with Farside is that they tried to do too much. This sounds like garage rock in the vein of New Bomb Turks. The good news is that they did everything pretty good. Song: oh Mom (Teach Me How To Uncle Willy) Artist: Les Sexareenos Album: 14 Frenzied Shakers Comments: Mark Sultan's lo- fi garage rock [...]
