You don't need us to tell you that if you want to see R.E.M. tonight you should have started lining up at Stubb's two days ago. Also you know how big these SXSW crowds are getting every year. The best bet for the sake of your legs -- and for the sake of not standing in line all night -- is to pick your showcase wisely. Besides, there are too many stacked bills to even worry about hopping around all night. Rather than sprain your fingers scrolling through tonight's master list , we've made you a list of eight [...]
Yes folks, it's almost that time of year again; one marked by BBQ, tex mex, margaritas, ice cold, Lone Star tall boys, and oh yes, music. SXSW. With thousands of bands descending upon Austin, March 12th through the 16th, it's helpful that the festival's official website offers up, along with the artist's bio, an [...]
Musikkah Day Four What is this Musikkah you spraken of? [ Post ] Scandimania! remains to be one of my favorites, and one of the rare mixes I bother keeping as a playlist and continue to add on to. Looking back on it though, I forgot how it was a celebratory mix for my first job at IKEA. I no longer work there, and as fun as it was, those people knew how to put people to work. [...]
Het Deense Slaraffenland is mijn nieuwe liefje. Luister naar Polaroids . "Jazz-tinged indie epics from Denmark"
CMJ is upon us (well, it starts tomorrow, but same difference) and as I've been going through the band list looking for new bands the past week or two, I've come up with a few who I think have a lot of potential. Now, besides the obvious bands of Cut Off Your Hands and The Black Ghosts from HSB's IAMSOUND Records (ha), below are some of the bands that I enjoyed and will keeping an eye/ear on. I don't feel like writing a blurb for each so just listen and see what you like. This is [...]
I am more than stoked for The Walkmen , Black Mountain , and The Dreadful Yawns at the Grog Shop on Saturday night. Not only is this a stacked bill with three solid bands, but all three bands will be showcasing new tuneage: The Walkmen spent the better part of September recording their next record, Black Mountain's next release, In the Future is due out next January, and they'll have a special tour only 12" for sale at the show, and Cleveland's Dreadful Yawns have also been working on a new record. [...]
Tonight is the start of 2007's version of The District's Awake! Music Festival or DAM! Fest as it is so eloquently marketed. As they are about to takeover the city, we found it only fitting that we do a preview of the first night. Since I'm too exhausted to wax poetic on all of these bands, I'll give quick comments on each bill, hook you up with some mp3s and allow you to map out your night. The Red and The Black (Doors @ 8:30) I feel that this bill exemplifies [...]

Wow, this is pretty impressive. The all-mighty Stereogum have pulled off a task not too many could have accomplished. First, they managed to convince a number of very awesome artists, including Cold War Kids and Johnathan Vanderslice, to cover Radiohead songs for a 10th anniversary tribute to OK Computer . And, to top it all off, they actually came up with a final product worthy of being a tribute to the original Radiohead classic. Not too shabby, Stereogum. I've included links to all the individual mp3's. If you would prefer them all .zipped up, [...]

Slaraffenland - Polaroids
Slaraffenland - "Polaroids". A hundred cannonballs in uneasy orbits above your head. You fired them only one by one, over the years, and not often. You thought nothing of it. You liked the fizz and boom. But now you wait for the bus, you lie in bed, and you imagine them swimming up there, each in a separate trajectory. You wonder when one of the things you set in motion will lunge at your resting form. It's the only thing you dream about. It's the only thing you hope for. Rock? Jazz? Post-rock? Improv? Danish band Slaraffenland is hard to categorize but easy to listen to.

Photography by Gillian Leigh Hi TSURURADIO listeners! The move is going well, it's exhausting though. Finally got the internets on yesterday, but was too wiped out to even think about posting. The one good thing about moving, with all the driving around, it's given me lots of time to absorb some new music, and devel0p some new obsessions, like today's post... (Nice transistion, eh?) Slaraffenland isn't for everyone, it's stacked with atmosphere, long instrumental bits, coming [...]
