I've had Slava on my radar since last January when he released his Soft Control EP so, it's great to see impressive offerings from the Brooklyn producer and visual artist thus far. I also got the chance to listen to Raw Solutions this week, Slava's latest EP which was released on labels Mexican Summer and Software. The dude is just sick. The depth he's managed to take on while still being able to balance humor is amazing. Check out two cuts from the album below. Related [...]
![EARMILK x BIRDDOG Presents: Slava, Teams, Cities Aviv, Solar Year, Brothertiger @ Living Bread 4/10 [Event]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/4935146_lg.jpg)
Bushwick's finest deli, Living Bread, is allowing us to co-host a party with BirdDog this Friday. Be warned, this isn't any deli or any party. When Living Bread isn't swarmed with the hungry Morgan stop residents, this deli/bodega dims the lights, clears away their tables and chairs, transplants a beer booth in a corner, and sets up a sound station to present a new DIY music venue. This is as "brooklyn" as anything gets. With such an under-the-radar layout already, our event with David of BirdDog Promotions is an experimental dance party featuring Slava , [...]

by Andrew Sacher Brooklyn producer Slava released his debut full length, Raw Solutions , last month via Software. He builds most of its tracks off of a repeating vocal loop which can veer towards the prettier sides of future garage ("Girl Like Me") and towards dirtier, Evian Christ-style hip hop ("Girls On Dick"). You can watch a visual clip for the album's single, "On It," along with a Spotify stream of the whole album, below. Also [...]
This is a great FADER mix. Following Slava's flutteringly percussive 2012 EP Soft Control, and an ensuing GEN F profile, he recently released his debut LP Raw Solutions, a hard-hitting record that sticks boldly tight ... read more

Slava has released an entrancing video for his track "Werk". This is the lead track from his new album, Raw Solutions , coming April 23rd via Software.

Slava werks very hard. Growing up in Moscow, Russia in his early childhood, Slava formed an appreciation for music through Queen's Freddie Mercury. However, once he moved to Chicago at age 12, he...
This new Slava vid is mandatory viewing, featuring an amazingly pristine office environment, Slava brand vodka, and a matrix-like digital vortex, it only has me anticipating his upcoming full-length Raw Solutions even more. Premiered today by, of course, Dis Magazine . Raw Solutions is out April 22 on Software .
In the eye-popping video for "Werk," Slava Balasanov walks into a swanky modern office, looking fly in a baseball jacket with the word RUSSIA across the back. A secretary ready with a hundred come-hither glances ... read more

2012 was a pretty amazing year for "Future" music. A lot of incredible artists, a lot of amazing releases. While certain unbearably aggressive genres (ehem) were being washed away due to people finally coming to their senses (for the most part) quality rose to the top again allowing Future Bass, Garage and soulful House to take the forefront. Here's what was awesome in 2012: EVERYBODY GET BACK IN THE HOUSE: It seems as though most roots Dubstep or bass heavy artists from 2005 and on have [...]

Small Black at Brooklyn Museum in June ( more by Jessica Amaya ) Today we've posted year-end lists by Andy from Cake Shop , Mark Eitzel , and James from Veronica Falls . Now we've got one from Josh Kolenik of Brooklyn chillwavers Small Black giving us a rundown of 12 singles he loved in 2012. Based on Small Black's own sound, it's got an unsurprising amount of indie pop, R&B, electronics, and Young Chop-produced hip hop. But he [...]

This year my music listening habits fragmented even further; listening to most things online first, often at work, is a great way of forgetting about some really great stuff, and it was quite a task reconstructing and recollecting my year's disparate listening through old blog posts and soundcloud faves. Albums were drastically less important to me this year than previously, although there were many excellent full-lengths and EPs released this year. I don't especially want to enter into deep reflections on the year in music, but a few things/trends really stood out. There have been some truly excellent high-concept albums [...]

MP3: RQ Mix 011 - Slava Slava 's Soft Control EP on Software earlier this year was a glistening exploration of the interplay between elegance and rhythm. Each syncopated, sometimes muddled element glistens with a certain luxurious sheen, which anchors the poignant, deceptively emotive vocal samples. Exhibiting a clear indebtedness to his one-time base of Chicago with its use of frenetic footwork rhythms, the EP gives the style a unique slant, using digital-era tropes of a sensual spa-music luxury (you only have to look at [...]
Chicago native Bill Salas (a.k.a. Brenmar ) is at the forefront of a trendy new production style amongst North America's young electronic beat-smiths. Taking cues from UK bass/funky producers, Brenmar, along with up-and-comers Kastle, Slava and Nguzunguzu have developed their own distinct approach to club music. Brenmar 's brand new remix of Javeon McCarthy 's "Precious" exemplifies this approach effectively. Take note of the clubby rhythms and sped-up synth arpeggios that underpin McCarthy 's silky smooth vocals. Call it "club music for the present". Catch Brenmar at [...]
