The Worldwide Gallery Traxx 2012 Mixtape is based upon somewhat of an idiosyncratic concept. Featuring nine tracks from the likes of: Brenmar, M.E.S.H., Craxxxmurf, Dju Dju, Pictureplane, Asa Cossaboom, Slava, LILINTERNET, and o F F Love; the mix is built around samples from 100 telephone conversations with gallery receptionists across the world concerning said "Worldwide Gallery's" white cube interior. I'm not quite sure if this is meant to hold some deeper meaning (about receptionists?) or whether it is a stylistic choice but nonetheless, it creates an aura of mystery around the project. Brooklyn tunesmith Slava has been rather busy lately ingratiating himself with the burgeoning A/V-meets-electronica. The results of this recent journey through the senses is collected here on his new EP entitled 'Soft Control'. It's a fairly sparse collection, owing much to the downtempo/trip-hop/whatever bass scene with just a hint of footwork, most notably on 'I Got Feelings Too'. Software is releasing Soft Control , the new ep from BK-based producer and visual artist Slava , on February 14. I've spent the day falling hypnotized to the track "I've Got Feelings Too", which features an infectiously repetitive female vocal uttering the title over and over in a sexy, hushed whisper. Software is probably my favorite label of the moment, so expect much more about their artists here very soon. Get your copy of Soft Control via Mexican Summer .
Born in Moscow but now a current resident in Brooklyn, visual and music producer, Slava Balsanov aka Slava has an upcoming release on the paired Mexican Summer and Software label. Slava unleashes a syrupy post-footwork jam entitled, 'I've Got Feelings Too', which will be featured on his Soft Control EP, out early this coming February.
