Slaves , our favorite UK punksters, return with 2 new songs, "Ceasefire" and White Knuckle Ride". Both track sounds way more produced than previous release, "Wishing Well", and everything seems so much more focused. Straight up punk is really not my style, but the Kent boys in Slaves do it so fucking well, that I can't help but love every second of it. The duo of The Black Keys or Sleigh Bells made me a believer that two people can create such a loud sound, but Issac Holman and Laurie Vincent easily take the cake of making something so piercing [...]

Still some usual womps and wobbles but more towards the atmospheric and vocal side in Jakwobs new mixtape. Which is good for me. I love it. It also gives you a chance to meet The 14th - amazing band who I found through A Pocket Full Of Seeds . You can stream the full mixtape here and download direct here . Jakwob - Slaves ft The 14th

"Slaves" is a new cut off Jakwob's forthcoming The Prize mixtape that also features the vocal stylings of breakthrough act, 14th. Need we say more? Jakwob ( Facebook ) Rating 8.2

The latest of Camp Smacktown is here, and boy have they been busy, with their next chapter of the comic saga titled " MONETARY SYSTEM ERROR" - Chapter II . This part of their comic is controversial, but as standard, we do not expect any less by these explicit bandana duo SMACKTOWN. Their latest tune has been a major one, gaining the interest of AUSSIE label none other than TUFFEM UP! records - With an official statement "Smacktown joins TUFF" Their first explicit rappers, but nothing to our surprise that TUFF have signed Smacktown, as notorious [...]

By Tom Johnson The very best music has something about it that you just can't put your finger. Something bubbling under the surface, something that gets under your skin and just stays there. Like great nights spent with friends, memories of people from your past, or simply the thrill of meeting someone new and unexpected, a song can drop in to your head at unexpected, yet opportune, moments and simply augment everything around you. Properly falling for Slave Ambient by The War On Drugs over the last couple of months has gone [...]
Slaves are a UK garage rock band with definitive punk leanings that I had the pleasure of receiving in my inbox a bit back. It's pure rock, no frills, all thrills. "Wishing Well" and it's fuzzy riff roll through the speakers nicely, and beneath the fuzz and grit the track is coated well in a catchy glaze. Something about the vocals in this track reminds me a bit of The Rakes' Alan Donahoe with a sneering edge. Seems like a strange comparison, I know, but something about the delivery just rings true to me. "Cease Fire" [...]

Standing out from the pack is a huge daily challenge facing aspiring producers in today's ultra-competitive EDM scene. In dubstep especially, artists constantly prowl through the same packages of synths, mods, alterations. For that reason, creating a successful alteration of those sounds is few and far between. One producer is very well on his to finding that, so I give you DJ Slave. David Timko (Slave) is a US bass music producer who makes tracks rock with a hard hitting attitude, that in your face kind of dubstep. He's about to release his premiere single "Crush" on February 7th, and [...]
Thirty one years ago, I was seeking out music for - really - the first time. Sure, there had previously been songs here and there that had captured my attention and a few 45s that I'd prodded the parents to purchase, but I would have had barely enough material to compile a desert island list. Weeks earlier, on New Year's Day, I had, inexplicably turned on the radio and tuned in to Q102, a Top 40 station from Cincinnati that was popular with my junior high classmates. I didn't listen to the radio much, if [...]

Some straight up lo-fi punk out of Kent, UK provided by the boys of Slaves . (Spectacular band name, by the way.) How can you not enjoy their song "Wishing Well", complete with a wicked little guitar line and some angry vocals. Wishing Well by slavesuk
Uplifting trance, anybody? The up-and-coming duo of Chad Cisneros and Dave Reed, better known as Tritonal are back with an uplifting, arena filling track. With the company of DJ/Producer Ben Gold, 'Slave' was created in a way that doesn't stray away from being purely trance. As many producers move toward progressive trance (or trouse) this stays true to its genre. This is the latest single off their Piercing The Quiet Extended Mixes LP . Earlier cuts include 'Lifted ,' ' Broken Down ' and ' I Can Breathe .' Tritonal, in [...]
I think I'm beginning to turn into one of those hated hip-hop purists. Don't get me wrong, you're not about to catch me in an oversized rugby and Girbaud jeans [...]

The War on Drugs are from Philadelphia and make dreamy psychedelic Americana. Current indie sensation Kurt Vile was a member for a time. But more importantly, they've just released an awesome album (possibly one of the best of 2011), Slave Ambient, and are touring behind it. Their sound has slowly evolved over the years, but if their live sound is anywhere near the stuff on the record, it's like Bob Dylan singing and strumming his guitar behind blissed-out samples and reverb-soaked guitars. They'll be at Mayday in Northside on November 4th (it's FREE, like [...]
You see a new band and they're so jaw-droppingly good, you wonder why every person in the world doesn't know about them yet. This is MUCK. They're Icelandic.

This is my reward for following James Zoo on SoundCloud after I listened to his awesome mix with Paul White in April. Named for a Hermeto Pascoal LP, "Slaves Mass" is a nigh unclassifiable almighty banger. James told me that it will appear on a forthcoming EP. Beats, son.

This is last free download thing we'll post today - we promise.
