I'm sick of the internet thus no posts in quite some time. Also, I'm kind of sick of "internet music". I just want to listen to The Need and Team Dresch and dream of being some dirty punk lez on the West Coast. But blogging must go on and as you can see with my totes hip title, new details have been released on Corin Tucker's solo project. "What details?" you ask. Title, tracklist and cover art. Also included in the Pitchfork article was this tidbit: some of these songs were originally written for "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse". [...]

[See post to watch Flash video] Sleater-Kinney - Sold Out Bryn Mawr Philadelphia, PA 4/6/96 The quality of this video isn't the greatest, but it was a such rarity that you would find Sleater-Kinney playing tracks from their self-titled release during the "Call The Doctor" tour. As such, I wanted to post it for the die-hard fans. One other thing to note, you'll see Toni Gogin on drums in this recording. She was never on any of their recordings, and from what I remember, only played with [...]

I spent the last week volunteering with Girls Rock! Chicago , and I can't even begin to say how amazing it was. Really, I'm speechless. To watch 70 young women develop their self-image over a short week, create bands, make friends, learn about themselves and how awesome they are is just incredible. Super empowering to all involved. I thought it would make me feel older than I do already, but really being around these girls reminded me that I'm still 100% young and awesome too. We all forget sometimes, even the most hardcore of us. I [...]
The moment I heard Coasting , the comparisons to Finally Punk , the Dum Dum Girls and Vivian Girls come to mind. I have friends who went to see the Dum Dum Girls at the Brudenell Social in Leeds and the one word that keeps comin up is that the Dum Dum Girls are stuck-up " knobheads ". I haven't met Coasting in real life but their email to me reveals a lot: Fiona and Madison seem, feel, look and sound like nice people! And I like nice people! [Coasting - Kids] [...]

Details are limited so far, but what we do know is that former Sleater-Kinney singer/guitarist Corin Tucker will be releasing her first solo album on October 5th. As a group Sleater-Kinney produced some of the most raw and poignant music of my late teenage years. Call The Doctor, Dig Me Out, and All Hands On The Bad One are still some of my favorite records. I'll give you more details as they

Sleater-Kinney: Little Babies [ Purchase ] Sleater-Kinney started as Carrie Brownstein's and Corin Tucker's side project as they were both in other bands at the time (Excuse 17 and Heavens to Betsy). Slowly Sleater-Kinney became their main focus but they didn't have a consistent drummer until they introduced Janet Weiss into the equation. The three Pacific-Northwest natives were a good fit and went on to make the rest of their catalog together. They were one of the bigger names to come out of the Riot Grrl scene and [...]

Toronto - Quasi is a band from Portland, Oregon and have been around for many years. It features the former husband and wife duel of Sam Coomes and Janet Weiss along with bassist Joanna Bolme. You may be familiar with Janet Weiss, who is also part of the band Sleater-Kinney . They were in town on Sunday to promote their album American Gong which was released on February 23rd. Normally, I wouldn't go to Sunday shows, but I was running off the high of having the Penguins annihilate the Senators and so I [...]

Or maybe this is a better representation of my current state: The Flaming Lips - Silver Trembling Hands (MP3) I'll get over it. I just had one of those moments where I realized how much I have to do before I leave for Australia. I think I owe it to myself to stop doing things that complicate my life. Though it doesn't look like we'll be getting a Pavement-style reunion from the great Sleater-Kinney anytime soon, all three members have chimed in on the subject in as many weeks, so let's recap the state of a possible Sleater-Kinney reunion as of this year's cruelest month… Janet Weiss to CNN : "Maybe someday. I'm prepared to wait awhile — when those million-dollar offers come in (smiles). It's not going to be this polished, moneymaking machine. We've never been that. The reunion will be just as out of control as it [...]
