Will Patterson's Sleep Good has blossomed over the past couple of years from a bedroom pop project into a full scale outfit that mirrors the rise of his other work with Bill Baird's Sunset. I really dig Real Estate . They're a great band, signed to a great label, with great tracks like "Younger Than Yesterday", which is my favorite one off of their '09 Reality EP . Very down to earth and tangible indie rock, this album boasts a more melancholy side of the group. Beautiful stuff. Sleep Good - Water Voices Austin's own Sleep Good makes you do just that exactly that. Not because it's boring or slow their album gives you a clear mind. You're taken on a journey to far away lands which only happen to be just your backyard. I had a really hard time choosing just one track off this album, the entire thing is chuck full of dream pop diddies that make you heart just a flutter. To this day, I get a little bummed that Austin, Texas' Sound Team broke up (I still think that Work EP was underrated). The silver lining is that several of their members are pursuing awesome projects since their disbanding: such as Bill Baird's project Sunset and now Will Patterson's project Sleep Good . I'm not usually the type to immediately fall head-over-heels for super catchy pop hooks, but when I heard Sleep Good for the first time this weekend, that is exactly what happened. Will Patterson's new album Skyclimber is his first effort featuring a full band, recorded during his spare time while attending college. But a band can only sustain itself on campy pop music for so long, and what Patterson is able to achieve throughout this 15 track album is incredible, a blend of both "chillwave" nostalgia along with powerful instrumental arrangement.
