I came across Tunng a few years ago, they are a pretty cool uk folk band that embrace modern electronics and pretty much anything else they can get their hands on, including seashells and glass bottles to create nice quirky tracks. Another cool band I found, were Sleep Whale (formally MOM), from Texus, these guys are pretty similar, using classical instruments, samplers and programs like Ableton to create what they call ' folktronica. You can tell that Paul North, aka Sunnybrook , is a down to earth guy by two things: the fact that he took his performance name after the street his family lives on, and - perhaps most prominently - his warm, peaceful songs.
