Techno and house DJ Carl Cox recently said in an interview with Time Out London that he, "was playing dubstep three years before anyone even decided to call it dubstep, but [he] never got known for playing that style. [He doesn't] mind the now generation being seen as the pioneers, but there had to be a Carl Cox pushing the doors open for these guys." The statement has been causing a pretty huge stir within the dubstep scene, provoking comments (mostly jokes) from the likes of many so-called 'now generation' producers: [...]

Up and coming dubstep producer Sleeper recently released his 'Zombies/Scanners' single and it's already incredibly big. All three tracks are currently on the Beatport Dubstep Top 100 with Zombies at #46, Scanners at #53, and Narrow at #57. Sleeper is sure to blow up with lots of heavy-hitters in the mix for 2012. Zombies is especially huge and is easily recognizable with it's grim vibe and dark sounds. Sleeper - Zombies Download: Beatport

Announced today by Distance, the next release on his Chestplate imprint will feature 'Zombies', 'Scanner' and 'Narrow' by a new addition to the label roster, Sleeper. That was basically all the information provided and even the release date is yet to be announced. There will, however, be full previews uploaded soon. In the meantime, we must satisfy ourselves with the mercilessly short clips of 'Zombies' and 'Narrow' below. Sometimes, it's nice to hear some good old fashioned real music. The kind where some guys who are very good at what they do get together and play instruments and sing. Remember that stuff? Will Currie and the Country French do. Real good stuff. Railroad (MPfree) And here they are playing "City," also off their new album.
It's old-school Swedish death metal time again and Stockholm quartet Morbus Chron are dishing out other people's riffs like they're going out of style. This hits me on four levels. All at once they're great, good, mediocre, and awful. You may wonder how that's possible, so allow me to disclose: Firstly, there's a killer, super-heavy and flawless production courtesy of Nicke Andersson . That's the great part. Secondly, they offer (via artist Raul Gonzalez ) an oddly colorful piece of cover art that's quite like a fantasy retake on John Carpenter 's "The thing" [...]
