From a forthcoming cassette + 7" bundle on subterranean New Zealand drone label Cooper Cult , this two-part track from Sleeper excels at the deep, cavernous drone the label is steadily making a name for itself on. It's the last minute or so that really makes the track though; the drone drops out while ominous horns slowly crescendo, and then totally unexpectedly we're in DJ Screw territory for about five seconds before the track comes to a halt with the click of a tape-deck.

Soaring vocals are backed by array of crunchy melodic riffs, that goes backs to some of alternative rock’s finest moments. Most likely you've heard of Sleeper from his deep, dungeon-style dubstep releases on Chestplate Recordings. He started 2013 with something completely different though: a genuine techno album!
