Ty Segall let out another reminder today that his new album, Sleeper, arrives August 20th via Drag City. Be on the lookout for new songs soon.

It exhausts me more just to write up this post about another new Ty Segall album, than it does for the dude himself to write, record, and tour three fucking albums in one fucking year. Yeah, we're talking about you and 2012, Ty. Just take a break or something, catch up on sleep, feed squirrels, paint a fence, I don't know. I won't complain that you're constantly churning out fantastic music, but I worry about your health, bro. You good? Can I at least give you a hug or a back rub [...]

Well, I guess it should come as no surprise that Ty Segall announced his next album - scheduled for this August. The new album is titled Sleeper and was announced via the trailer...
Ty Segall's new album "SLEEPER" coming out on LP, Cassette, CD, and Digital on August 20, 2013 on Drag City.
It's the time of year for hilarious reader-voted music lists, it seems. First there was Rolling Stone 's Worst Bands of the 1990s , which embarrassingly dubbed Nirvana the fifth-worst band of the decade, and now there's the NME 's Greatest Britpop Anthems , in which the first five spots are all filled by Oasis songs. If you go by the NME readership's version of history, you'd be forgiven for thinking that Oasis and Blur were the only two bands writing decent songs [...]
It ain't "Easy" being Carmen Villain. Carmen Villain, aka model-turned-musician Carmen Hillestad, has released a video for "Easy". The song is taken from her album, Sleeper, out now through Smalltown Supersound. UPCOMING SHOWS:...

From a forthcoming cassette + 7" bundle on subterranean New Zealand drone label Cooper Cult , this two-part track from Sleeper excels at the deep, cavernous drone the label is steadily making a name for itself on. It's the last minute or so that really makes the track though; the drone drops out while ominous horns slowly crescendo, and then totally unexpectedly we're in DJ Screw territory for about five seconds before the track comes to a halt with the click of a tape-deck.

Unlike Carmen Villain's fashion portfolio, Sleeper won’t win listeners over with prettiness, so only true fans of avant-darkness will want to pursue it. Smalltown Supersound, 2013 6.0 / 10 Carmen Hillestad isn’t a...

"How Much" more remixes do we need? At least this one for Carmen Villain. Carmen Villain has shared a new remix for "How Much" from her album, Sleeper. Listen to it below. "How...

Carmen Villain leaves men as former shells of themselves. Carmen Villain has revealed a new song from Sleeper. This one is called "Made A Shell". It's got a touch of psych creepiness about...

The more played out the "Future Garage" sounds gets, the more it becomes "Old" Future Garage, the more difficult it is definitely to impress, stand out, make an impression with a sound that is on the definite business end of its trendiness. Charles Murdoch's "Sleeper" is that standout and so much more. The type and timber of the beats, the pitched down vocals, the languid instrumentals, they feel real. They feel like the product of an artist who needs to make this music , regardless of it's fashion. That, and it helps, too, that Mr. Murdoch is [...]

Louise Wener really was a perfect 902s frontwoman. Ballsy and opinionated she was the archetypal loose canon (with a good deal of substance behind her utterances it must be said) whose confidence in her band's music was only matched by her appetite to chew at the establishment. Not at all as boring at that sounds and Sleeper did come up with some above decent moments, most of which can be found on their debut album 'Smart'. And it is to that album's main single we return, 'Vegas' is a schizophrenic number that reduces to accomplished meltdown towards the end. The [...]

LA’s The Hectors are totally bringing back that 90’s girl power rock with new single “Sleeper”. Soaring vocals are backed by array of crunchy melodic riffs, that goes backs to some of alternative rock’s finest moments. An easily sing along ready tune that feels just perfect to be performed at a sweaty venue in the West Coast. Rilo Kiley, Metric, and early No Doubt fans should eat this up. Their record Her Dark Majesty will be out March 5th on Tarantism.

Trainspotting might be one of the darkest movies I've ever seen. Despite it' bleak outlook and honest portrayal of addiction, it has built up a cult status of epic proportions. So much so that if you had told me way back in 2006 after Trainspotting came out that Ewan McGregor was going to eventually play Obi-Wan Kenobi in the Star Wars prequels, I would never have believed you. Based upon the successful novel by Irvine Welsh and directed by Robert Boyle, Trainspotting tells the tale of friends Renton (played by McGregor), Spud, Tommy, Begbie, and [...]
Let's get this out of the way right from the start. Carmen Villain used to be a very successful model. Her face has appeared on the covers of Vogue and Nylon, and high profile cosmetic ad campaigns. But as the shutter clicks and the palm trees sway, what's a cover girl really thinking? Most models are expected to remain mutely anonymous, mere ciphers of a commercial brand. But it turns out, behind the scenes, Carmen Villain (aka Carmen Hillestad) was channeling her frustrations into a set of songs with a defiantly DIY underground free-rock sound. Now at last, she's stepping off the glossy page [...]

Most likely you've heard of Sleeper from his deep, dungeon-style dubstep releases on Chestplate Recordings. He started 2013 with something completely different though: a genuine techno album! Calling this release (featuring eleven tracks, all over 6 minutes) an EP is just way too unpretentious. Let's hope he'll make more of this stomping, energetic techno! Check out the full EP below. If you're a fan of techno there'll definitely be something in it for you! http://sleeperchst.bandcamp.co m/album/enter-ep [bandcamp album=1742134250 bgcol=FFFFFF linkcol=4285BB size=venti] You can download each track individually [...]

I'd find it really easy to dismiss the work of Carmen Villain as some sort of kitsch, seeing as she spent a part of her early adulthood as model Carmen Hillestad. But, after listening to the first single from her upcoming album, I find her enchanting for a wholly different reason. There's a slight rasp to her vocals, and the accompanying music quietly supports her quieted approach. The album is titled Sleeper , and it's being released by Smalltown Supersound on March 12th. [...]
Former model Carmen Villain proves she's more than a pretty face. One time model Carmen Hillestad has traded all of the glitz and glamour of that lifestyle for a new one as a singer/songwriter/multi-instru mentalist. On March 12th, Smalltown Supersound will release Hillestad's debut as Carmen Villain . Titled [...]
