![[Folk] The Careful Ones- Moths, Flames, Etc.](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/4027094_lg.jpg)
The Careful Ones are a relatively new indie/folk band from Lakeland Florida that has been attracting attention with their soulful melodies and ambient tones. The music is driven by acoustic guitars, heavy vocal harmonies, and light percussion (guitar slapping, stomping, heavy strumming, occasional bass hits). The lyrics are introspective and presented in a voice that's somewhere between Bahamas and Sleeping At Last . Their debut Moths, Flames, Etc. is a lonesome collection of well written songs, with each instrument focusing on what's best for the music rather than how [...]
Two and a half years after my last regular song obsession post I've decided to relaunch the series , this time as an every-two-weeks affair. I just found it was a great way to ask my friends and fellow music fans what they're really obsessing about at the moment. Song obsessions are those songs that get stuck in your head. This series of posts isn't about what I or the other panel members think is best, but what our brain latches onto, those ear worms that loop around and around in your head. [...]

Today's Christmas song comes from a band that recently was added to the Twilight saga soundtrack and it's the third time you see this name at our posts. Actually, Sleeping at Last is at the moment a one man project by Ryan O'Neal. Every year Sleeping at Last put out a new Christmas song, adding it to the previous ones released, and compiled them in a free Christmas Sampler available at NoiseTrade, or by any price you feel it's fair to pay for. Download O, Holy Night [...]
Ok ok I'll say it again... I'm sorry I didn't post yesterday like a good little blogger would have. But the problem is that I JUST DON'T CAREEEE RIGHT NOW. And I don't mean that in a melodramatic "screw life" sort of way... actually quite the opposite. Because here's the thing, when life is going [...]

Ah, Sleeping At Last. Now that's a band name that I can relate to. All I ever want to do is sleep. However, since this is a music blog and not a lifestyle blog, I'll should get back to the song at hand. Turning Page is a song by the aforementioned band Sleeping At Last . The Illinois based band has been around for over a decade, but in just the last few years they've been gaining some publicity and they probably have one of their bigger hits with this song. Turning [...]

Details for the Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part One soundtrack are coming together and today (September 26), the star-studded tracklisting has been revealed. The soundtrack for the uber-successful movie franchise will feature songs from Christina Perri , Theophilus London , The Belle Brigade and more. They'll join previously announced featured artist, Bruno Mars , on the set. Christina says her song on the soundtrack, A Thousand Years , was written for the film's lead characters, Bella and Edward, after she saw a special screening. She [...]

Sleeping at Last are Ryan O'Neal and Dan Perdue. I have been listening to them for more than 3 years. I first had to understand them, then started to enjoy their music, until the day I realised I had to listen to Sleeping at Last very, very often. They are doing a wonderful project called Yearbook . It consists in releasing each first of the month an e.p. with the name of the month it is released, for one year. Since October they have been doing these releases. You can buy them at your favourite song retailer, or with [...]

This is my desk. The owls were a Christmas present. And if those other presents are still sitting on the desk that means I forgot to put them back under the tree and both my brothers-in-law are now short a gift. Oops. The big day has arrived! And if you're reading this on Christmas Day I'm assuming you've just stolen away from the family with some excuse like 'I'm just popping off to get that eggnog for Aunty Mildred' (seriously, does anybody actually drink that stuff? The name doesn't exactly say DRINK ME, DRINK ME, DRINK [...]

One of my favorite piano driven pop groups, Sleeping At Last, have taken a unique approach in presenting their music to their fans. Forgoing the typical bi-annual, 10-song, hour long album, the Chicago-dwelling crooners will be releasing a 3-song EP every month for a year. Each mini-album under the new "Yearbook" project will be named for the corresponding month in which it was released. They began the project earlier this month, releasing October on the 1st of the month. You can purchase each EP individually for $3 each on either Amazon or iTunes, or you can subscribe via [...]
Photography by Amelia [well, actually by my friend Laura, 'cause that's me in the picture, but it was on my phone so I'm taking credit] This is a mixtape about a triangle. A Troublesome Trio, Three Amigos. Side one is from a Brokenhearted Boy's perspective, about the girl who broke his heart. Side two is from a Gloomy Girl's perspective, who happens to love Brokenhearted Boy. The missing side of the triangle is the Other Girl, the friend to both who started causing all the trouble. So since Brokenhearted Boy is sad about the Other Girl and Gloomy [...]

Christmas Downloads for the Musical Soul You can download the Christmas EP by Sleeping At Last here . Download " Christmas Eve ", a free track The Years Gone By here .

As a rule, I hate Christmas carols. I didn't mind them so much growing up, but while I was at uni I did night fill in a big retail store and they started piping them over the speakers in November, and even when the store closed they refused to turn them off. There are only so many times you can listen to Tina Arena wailing about that one little Christmas tree that had never grown before you start entertaining ideas about telling her where to put it. However, something comes over me as the big day draws nearer [...]

As indicated by a recent trip to Chicago's Electrical Audio Studio (owned by Nirvana/The Pixies mastermind Steve Albini), Chicago band SLEEPING AT LAST have once again upped the artistic ante in this ambitious, self-produced affair, while concurrently maintaining relatability on all planes. Their third national release, Storyboards, is an intricate web that builds off the surging soundscapes of 2003's Ghosts and the lush atmospherics of 2006's Keep No Score, coupled with previously uncharted instrumental expeditions and glorious orchestration. "Every time we go into the studio, we want to stretch ourselves musically as much as possible and we've noticed [...]
