Frank Yang It hasn't escaped my notice that my live show schedule so far in 2012 has been pretty lean, and what there has been has been more on the sedate side. Which is fine - I dig the low key stuff and getting home well before midnight - but sometimes you get a fever for something bigger, louder and more rawk... and on those occasions, such as Tuesday night, the perfect prescription is The Kills . The Amer-English duo were on the road for a second North American jaunt in support of last [...]

Tweet Listen to Trippple Nippples ' song "LSD" below. Mindfuckingly great brain-damaging pop. Look, Björk is insanely great in every aspect of her acts. But this group? They took the insanity to the next level, in the best way possible. The song itself is superficially catchy, I can picture myself tribal dancing like crazy without the need of alcohol. It's physically impossible to hear this group [...]

This edition compiles January and the majority of December. Despite including material featured at the tail end of 2011, every track on here apart from "Stuck Together" and "(I'm In) A Chorus Line" is from a 2012 release. So here's our first peek at music in the new year, even if it's just the tip

Mick Rock I will be the first to admit to not really being able to tell where Bradford Cox's Deerhunter ends and his Atlas Sound begins. I know that the former is ostensibly a band and the latter a solo project, but to my ears the hazy, psychedelic rock that each project produces isn't exactly a world apart. Okay, Atlas Sound is more keys, less guitars, but they're both critically adored and don't really do a lot for me, despite on paper being the sort of thing I should totally dig. [...]

The second single off of the new Sleigh Bells album, Reign of Terror , has been released for viewing over at reignofterror.tv . This has happened not a moment too soon since I can not or choose not to remember the name of the first single. "Comeback Kid" has gotten me, once again, excited for the sophomore album by the popular Brooklyn, New York duo. After hearing the first single I was thinking, "Oh no, another follow-up failure to an unprecedented debut album." Major Disappointment of 2011: Sleigh Bells cancelling Lollapalooza. [...]
