Words by Rick OK, so when all else fails, start your album with feedback. Even that long-awaited disco album slaved over in your home studio deserves the added spunk of some hi-pitch amplified noise (plus friends will think you're less of a dweeb for recording a disco album). On their new LP, Slices not only preps listeners with a shot of feedback but then accelerates into a punkified Thin Lizzy -like guitar riff on opener "Trying to Make a Living" after a muscle car revs its engine, as if signaling, "Fasten [...]
Electronic Beats presents Slices Feature - Theo Parrish Extremely informative interview with producer/dj/human being Theo Parrish. He explains the importance of digging [Searching for music at brick and mortar record shops], his thoughts on djing and technology, and even further explains the importance of culture. If you learn something from the interview we highly encourage you to pass the video along to someone else who can learn from it as well. May 28 2012, Nativity
Admittedly fatigued of writing long-form album reviews for close to 15 years, I created the Bleeders' Digest feature here at MetalSucks with the idea of giving a small number of records a thoughtful capsule review, leaving it open to all contributors. (Corey Mitchell has dutifully refined it for his purposes, resulting in what I consider [...]

Slices have offered up a handful of cuts from their upcoming LP Still Cruising . The record will be released March 1 on Iron Lung Records . There are a lot of superlatives that could be used to describe the noise rock quartet, but why waste your reading when you can hear for yourself? All you should know is to expect something raw, but catchy.

With already at least one contender for release of the year already in your iPod, the Bingo Players are making a late push to add another one. 'Mode' was teased a few weeks back , and through the near 100-second preview, we got a dark, progressive glimpse at the bombshell from the Dutch duo. From the French house-inspired 'Cry' to their big room-electro collaboration with Nicky Romero , the Bingo Players have proved their versatility in 2011. Enjoy this towering Monday release! Paris is full of busy men, but I don't feel the need to paraphrase this one's name. He's a world class producer that's been around long enough to grab titles like 'senior' or 'godfather'. I'm talking about France's electric wizard Para One , and when he's not steering the wheel behind Marble Records or pumping out future house hits under Marble Players he's forging lax disco grooves with American vocalist San Serac . Slice & Soda they like to call it, and the vibes contained in their debut LP released this week [...]

Anglais: French producer Para One can't seem to stay still. In the early 00s he was major figure in the invention of a new kind of rap music with legen- dary French crew TTC, then in 2006 dreamed up Epiphanie, an insanely colourful solo debut which originated the French sound that stormed the world the [...]

With their new single Cry (Just A Little) , dutch DJs the Bingo Players sure don't have anything to sniffle about. Their new single displays the soft side of these two kitschy producers; it's a nu disco summer anthem that's terribly catchy, extremely danceable, and super '80s-infused. The sample comes from Brenda Russell's 1988 single Piano In The Dark , and is reworked into this awesome booty shaker that's sure to be one of many tracks played out at festivals across the world this summer. Not only have Bingo Players been in the [...]

After just releasing their massive hit ' Cry ', which was supported by an onslaught of massive DJ's, the Bingo Players are back with a serious collaboration. EO favorite Nicky Romero adds the perfect amount of Dutch to an awesomely constructed tune. Keep a look out for this release coming in May.
Filed under: Concerts and Tours , The Hit List Scouring the massive list of artists playing this year's SXSW can be overwhelming, especially when there's not a lot of info on some [...]

So I've finally emerged to add my list of favorite records from this past year to the pool of billions of other lists. Apologies all around for the lack of activity around here lately, but the end of the year is always a busy one for me and hopefully I can get the ball rolling once again at the start of the new year when things start to calm down. Anyway, here are my favorite releases, many of which who read the blog have probably already seen/read about/heard already...but oh well. Some singles that I enjoyed... [...]

The weather in New York seems more like winter recently(snow, sleet, what is this?) Here is a mix featuring some newish music Xiu Xiu, Torche, Tallest Man On Earth and a few songs from legendary NOMEANSNO, Slices and a cover of "Sabbath Bloody Sabbath" by Racebannon that must be heard. Xiu Xiu "Gray Death" ( MP3 ) from Dear God, I Hate Myself (2010) Tallest Man On Earth "The Dreamer" ( MP3 ) from Sometimes the Blues Is Just a Passing Bird (EP) (2010) Slices "Listless Yahweh" ( MP3 ) from Slices [...]
Wilhelm Reich was one of Freud's inner circle - some say he was being groomed to take over leadership of the International Psychoanalytic Association (IPA) - but he was ultimately centrifuged out of that organization for his social reform and anti-Nazi work. Historians have since documented the general capitulation of German psychoanalysis to the Nazis, [...]
Besides the fact that their govt. names happen to rhyme, Andre 3000 and Mos Def intersect in some interesting ways: Black Star vs. OutKast, The New Danger vs. The Love Below , Be Kind Rewind vs. Semi-Pro . And both like to keep us waiting too long between releases
For my money, this dubious honor belongs to Five For Fighting for the first song on their new album Slice (also called " Slice "). Behold: "Have you ready my blog today/300 million little USAs" Amazon.com Widgets Honestly, I've never really liked this band, but, BARF! Really? Really?? You're going there? Everything about this lyric makes me cringe . I dare you to tell me I'm wrong--I'd love [...]
Seems like only yesterday the Five For Fighting 's inspirational anthem "Superman (It's Not Easy)" became a song that became identified with the healing and heroism surrounding the aftermath of that tragic September morning in 2001. But for John Ondrasik, the concept of utilizing music to tell stories and evoke an emotional response based on something larger than ourselves is nothing new. FFF songs such as "100 Years", "World" and "Freedom Never Cries" have always been about more than a great hook or radio airplay and it's that type of passionate lyricism that is at the very big heart [...]

Truly, the best thing since sliced bread are sliced bread looking notebooks. They are designed Burak Kaynak and Cem Has and are meant to be the new schedule-keeping fad. They come as a dozen with the number of the month on the ridge of each. It's bound to give the diary a new make-over and a stylish new norwegian-wood colored aura. You can get them here or click below for more pics. Posted in [...]

Found a video (think its cut for a Slices dvd) where the great Luciano talks about music, but mainly his childhood and his own world…Brilliant producer, outstanding Dj and a seriously down to earth human being, which is quite unusual…apparently A couple of days ago we stuck up his brilliant Sinnerman/ Nina Simone edit ... HERE He also has a nice remix just out of Minilogue's track "Animals", 2nd down
