I recently drove a 1,464 mile round-trip to Salt Lake City. My beagle copilot still hasn't mastered the art of conversation, so I loaded my iPod with a bunch of new music. I found myself listening [...]

Following the underground success of 2009's Yeah, So? , the rather wonderful Slow Club have finally, finally returned with an astonishingly accomplished sophomore record in the shape of Paradise . Refusing to be shackled by what they took to be unwelcome labels of 'twee' and the always ambiguous 'nu-folk', Rebecca Taylor and Charles Watson have crafted a desperate, disparate album that is both immediate in its romance yet defined by a rich melancholy, a certain aural resignation which has come to define their unique sound. As opposed to the inherently [...]

Laura Pannack Even though I was very much a fan of Slow Club's 2009 debut Yeah, So? , I don't think I ever did a proper write-up for it - I guess I hoped that seeing them twice at SXSW as well as having them play our Eastbound & Found day show would be sufficient implied endorsement... but still, by way of compensation, here's my thoughts on the Sheffield, UK duo of Charles Watson and Rebecca Taylor's follow-up Paradise [...]
Slow Club's new album is out in a few weeks and here's a track/video leading the way. The band are still managing to balance likeable melodies atop energetic guitars so we are hopeful the new record will be all good.
Sheffield's folk-pop-rocking duo the SLOW CLUB give us summin to smile bout via their WHERE I'M WAKING video. wotyougot

Not much needs to be said about this, just watch the video and it will put a giant smile on your face. The music (by awesome band Slow Club )doesn't even match up properly to the dancing, but the juxtaposition is beautiful.
Arab Strap's Aidan Moffat and Malcolm Middleton reimagine Slow Club's new funky single, 'Two Cousins.'

Crammed with his loveably ramshackle homemade productions and instantly recognisable vocal ditties, Peanut Butter Blues & Melancholy Jam - Ghostpoet 's February debut album - was not only a neat summation of the MC's musical journey to date, but also an impressive statement of intent. Winning him his nomination for the Barclaycard Mercury Music Prize , it has barely left our collective stereos since we first listened to it. With his growing presence affording him evermore large performances, it's with pleasure we can announce that he will be performing an intimate Last.fm pop-up [...]
Adorable U.K. folk/rock duo Slow Club is set to release sophomore album Paradise (Moshi Moshi) on September 13. The follow-up to 20092s stellar Yeah, So moves away from exclusively heartbreak-ridden topics toward reflections on family and death. Slow Club has just dropped the first single, the jaunty "Two Cousins," and below you can check out the [...]

Dope mix! DUBBEL DUTCH - SLOW CLUB MIX by dubbeldutch
Austin producer/dj and all around super awesome fella Dubbel Dutch shows us how it's done in scorching hot Texas with this slowed down Jersey Club r'n'b remixes mixtape. "Record high temperatures in Texas this week and I'm feeling kinda sluggish. This mix is inspired by O.G. Ron C's F-Action mixtape series. I decided to take some of my favorite Jersey Club RnB remixes of the moment and slow em down a bit". DUBBEL DUTCH - SLOW CLUB MIX by dubbeldutch

Neil Krug Those of us who dismissed The Horrors as gimmicky flash in the pans based on their 2007 debut Strange House were left eating our words with their follow up, 20092s massive and grinding Primary Colours . With the assistance of producer Geoff Barrow, all the band's cartoonish aspects (stage surnames included) were jettisoned in favour of a goth-y and raw, yet melodic aesthetic that evoked the most aggressive aspects of '80s British New Wave and '90s shoegaze. As far as reinventions [...]
Aidan Moffat and Malcom Middleton (collectively known as Arab Strap back in the day) have joined forces to cover a Slow Club track from the duo's forthcoming record, 'Paradise', which is out on Moshi Moshi next month. Aidan Moffat told The Quietus how it all came about: "When Rebecca from Slow Club sent me a Twitter DM to ask if I'd like to cover or remix their new single, I hadn't heard it. I think I gave a vague 'probably' in reply, working on the premise that I knew and enjoyed their first album [...]

Aidan Moffat has once again partnered with his fellow Arab Strap member Malcolm Middleton for a surprising cover of Slow Club's latest single Two Cousins.

« I remembered an old Arab Strap joke we used to make, about how we'd take someone else's song and just add a drum machine, slow it down and make it miserable ». Superbe histoire, narrée par Aidan Moffat lui même sur The Quietus: Arab Strap s'est reformé pour enregistrer une reprise de 'Two Cousins' de nos adorés Slow Club.
