With roots from Gothenburg, the experimental pop outfit Slutet is a name behind many sounds: sometimes eternal, breezy psych-pop or sometimes a more noisy, organic feel, often leaning towards the electronic genre. However, they still seem to be in the progress of finding 'their' particular sound, always experimenting with new textures in hopes of evolving into something even bigger, and they are indeed walking on the right path to success. Having recently recorded a splendid live session with Pool Sessions , we're also excited for our own hot date with these Swedish experimentalists, hopefully for an upcoming [...]

Bad Panda Records is celebrating one year of odd and creative creative commons jams, and they're releasing a free compilation to mark the occasion. It features 18 tracks, and there's a lot of ground covered on this thing. From the filthy psych pop of Dumbo Gets Mad to the experimental afrobeat jam from Andy & Muzz, there's no telling what the next track is going to bring. It's definitely does the trick if you're looking for something to shake up your musical sensibilities a bit. Enjoy: [...]

This somewhat obscure song "Vilse" by Swedish band Symfoniorkestern came my way, and I am really enjoying it. It's apparently a remake/cover of a version originally made by fellow Swedes, Slutet . It starts off like a Beirut song, but then transforms into a dreamy lush wonder that sounds like a light soundtrack to one's journey to heaven. Seems to me like we may potentially have a Swedish Sigur Ros on our hands. Beautiful. [mp3]: Symfoniorkestern - Vilse (Slutet remake) Bookmark on [...]

~ Symfoniorkestern - "Vilse" ~ Originally by Slutet

It's all the rage, ain't it. Coming up with names for cities, volcanoes and animals that no one can pronounce. Which is why you need me. You see, I ain't no trend follower. I don't bother naming things after words that I can't pronounce. So to help you reach a similar state of zen, I thought it only appropriate to help you work your way around those songs that sound bodacious, but which you will never be able to tell your friend to check out. So you ready? Good, let me just pull up my chair, open up [...]

Slutet From: Västra Götalands län, Sweden Swedish instrumental-post-dreampop architects Slutet (Swedish for closed my good pal babel fish reliably informs me) sculpt dreamlike soundscapes from melting glaciers that aches as much in the ears as in the heart.
