We just found a fantastic new house EP in our promo pool. From Manchester based underground house label - Resonance Records arrives a new release courtesy of the most capable hands of label's newcomers Walker & Royce , who together will the majestically named Pow! Pow!, serve up RR011, the Drive E.P. And what a journey it brings us on. The Deep strands of the original come equipped and fully loaded with a barrage of quite brilliant synth line and in indecipherable vocal that adds more than a dose of heady [...]

Brilliantly cruisy tune from new Melbourne-based band, Smile . Aptly titled ' Stoned ', in fact, the full title is actually 'Stoned (Get These Fucking Flies Off My Face / Shut Up And Make Money)' which doesn't inspire relaxation at all. That's where the contradictions begin, Smile's other double a-side has a track called ' Jesus Song ' with a cute little lamb on the cover. So I'm not sure what to believe, or what they do. Smile - 'Stoned (Get These Fucking Flies Off My Face / Shut Up And Make Money)' [...]
Onetime British pop brat-queen Lily Allen has been away from the stage for a couple of years, but earlier this week she gave her first performance in many, many moons, singing her 2006 hit "Smile" at an Etam Lingerie show during Paris's Fashion Week. Mark Ronson directed the show, which also had appearances from M.I.A., Lykke Li, and Rita Ora. And as you can see in the video below, Allen sounded pretty good, and she refreshingly seemed not to take the whole enterprise too seriously. Check it out: Read More...

"A collection of eight original acetates from the Beach Boys' unfinished album Smile; from the collection of Van Dyke Parks, Brian Wilson's collaborator on the project. We acquired these unique discs from Durrie Parks, Van Dyke's ex wife (Van Dyke and Durrie lived at Brian Wilson's house during the recording of Smile.) Smile is the most legendary unreleased album of all time. Intended as the follow up to the Beach Boys classic Pet Sounds, Wilson worked on Smile throughout 1966 and '67, finally abandoning it in favor of the much less ambitious Smiley Smile." "These discs are truly [...]
An acoustic guitar and a voice. Pretty simple. And a heap of people fuck it up royally. Ripley Callahan doesn't though. And for a young dude (the fella's only 17), he's creating some really easy, honest straight up singer songwriter stuff. There's this level of restraint it what Ripley does - he uses space really [...]
I don’t normally reblog, but when I do… The Smiths - This Charming Man This crossed the old Tumblr feed and I was pumped. I haven’t listened to The Smiths in a long time and it elicited quite a bit of nostalgia and smiles. Yerp. Dig it.

"There's gon' be some stuff you gon' see that's gon' make it hard to smile in the future. But through whatever you see, through all the rain and the pain, you gotta keep your sense of humor. You gotta be able to smile through all this bullshit." - Tupac Shakur When adversity finds its way into our lives, the way we roll with the punches can go either which way. Some may cry, some may get angry, but the strongest of people-smile through it all. Collaborating with [...]

This is a tradition that I come out of.
Miami-based singer/songwriter/musician Fernando Perdomo has worked his way up the studio ladder, becoming an in-demand session player on the local music scene before deciding to focus on his own songwriting and recording. Produced by Grammy-nominee Chris Rodriguez, the songs on Perdomo's solo EP, Home Is Wherever You Are (Rosemine Group), are both inspiring and beautiful, a blend of deceptively simple acoustic guitar-based compositions accompanied by symphonic splendor and wrapped around lyrics that offer hope in an uncertain world. Comparable at times to Paul Buckmaster's dramatic arrangements on Elton John's early works, songs like [...]

Rat & Co is the brainchild of Joshua Delaney (other projects include playing with fellow Melbourne alumn Chet Faker, Northeast Party House, RedBerryPlum, and Smile). Moody, ambient, tempestuous, soulful. Rat & Co bridge the gap between shoegaze and the zeitgeist ambient beat-makers of now. Although nestled in the "beats" family, both "Vision" and "Seawind" maintain raw sounding drum arrangements, the loose hats and soft splash really give these tracks a tangible, angular quality. That guitar lick in "Vision" is a stroke of genius - the notes dance along beside the rolling howl of Delaney's vocals, which makes [...]
