Maybe four years of contributing to the massive onslaught of year-end 'best albums' lists has made us a little jaded, but we almost didn't compile a list at all this year. Who cares really what albums we thought were best this year? Probably just us. And doesn't it come off just a tad pretentious to think that just because we have a regular outlet to share our music-related opinions that it makes us somehow more knowledgeable in the area or make our voices any more credible? But sites do need content and, admittedly, this time of year it [...]

Zola Jesus Editor's Note: I don't do "Best of" or "Top" lists, but I do like things ... as hard as it might seem to believe. I'm going to post a few editorials between now and the end of the year about the various things I've liked about 2011. It seems that every year I have less time to listen to music than the year before. This year proved to be no different. With that said, I did find time during the last 11.5 months to listen to some wonderful [...]

(photo by cubagallery ) These are 50 tracks that defined 2011 for us, presented in highly unscientific ordered list form, with Matt's songs marked with a "-MG" and my choices with a "-TJ" next to them. To better spread the love, there's only one song per artist. Click the links next to the track to download / listen to the song and go to our Spotify Playlist to hear them all. Enjoy y'all! 50. "Born to Lose" is the first single from Sleigh Bells' second album Reign of Terror, out this February. Judging by this single (MP3 inside), listeners can expect the same sort of cheerleader-like vocal chants and voraciously fuzzy guitar riffs found on 2010's Treats, their widely acclaimed debut full-length. Fun stuff as usual
BEST OF 2011 : Songs | Albums (soon) | EPs/Singles | Discoveries/Heavy Rotation | Photos A really good year! The first 40 or so are mega-jams and the latter 38 (Rawkblog loves you, baby) are still jams. I purposefully left out songs by Destroyer because I couldn't decide, so consider Kaputt represented. You can play the entire page with the handy Ex.fm player in the bottom right corner, stream the playlist on Spotify and Rdio , and download everything after the jump. [...]
The top ten albums of 2011 are revealed

I went to their show and I met the buzzband. I can confirm that they are human. I touched them. They are real. We had direct, personal interaction. I met the buzzband. There are multiple members in the band. Each of them has a unique personality. They all deal with fans differently One of the members is very nice. We took a photograph. One of the members is aloof. He is okay. One of the members is mean. One of the members was nowhere to be found. [...]

2011 was (another) odd year for music. It felt like the average quality of albums was raised a bit, but nothing really stood out as a life-changing album or single of the year. Still, there was a lot of great music to be heard. Here's fifty of my favorite tracks from the year, ranging from [...]
Elke dag t/m 31-12-2011 een album uit de lijst met favorieten uit 2011, persoonlijk gekozen door het ASP opperhoofd. Uiteraard in de correcte volgorde. #29: Smith Westerns - Dye It Blonde Ontzettend fijn gitaarplaatje. Er zijn dagen dat ik me afvraag waarom –-for the love of god!-- single Weekend geen radiohitje is geworden. Hoe catchy wil je het hebben? Smith Westerns was ook die... Lees verder

L.A. quartet Bleached is hitting the road this winter to tour the U.S. and Canada.

Ainda pelo outro lado do Atlântico Norte, o tema que se instala na posição #39 é "

Starting January, Bleached will bring its 702s acid-glazed pop punk to towns across America, when the Los Angeles quartet tags along with Chicago's Smith Westerns and later with London's own Veronica Falls in February. It's a short run of dates (at least thus far), but some major markets are represented, specifically Boston, New York, Chicago, Seattle, and Los Angeles. They'll be hitting a few places in between, but no doubt the metropolises are feelin' the California distortion come winter. Outside of touring, the band's latest single, "Searching Through The Past", will be available as a 73 [...]
