I'm officially not doing an albums of the year list. There have been so few that I wholeheartedly enjoy, I'd have to do a top 10 that starts at 8. But that is not to say that there wasn't some exceptional new music this year. Click HERE for my favorite tracks from 2011. I'm hoping that 2012 will pick up the pace, but if not, I'll just further recede into the vintage music that I love so much. I hope you enjoy listening to the mixes as much as I like making them. Yuck guitarist/vocalist Daniel Blumberg moonlights as Oupa , and through that project he recently took to covering Smog's " It's Rough ." Stream the track after the jump. Stream the track after the jump. Read More...
Some people really like Smog aka Bill Callahan, some other people really might like Oupa aka Daniel Blumberg from YUCK and formally Cajun Dance Party. Even other people might like all of those bands/people in bands. Those people are the target audience this video is going for but the previously mentioned people might also like it also.

SMOG | Media Contender | The Galaxy/ Observatory Eccentric, Fabricated, and I had a special invitation to join in the celebration of SMOG's 5 year anniversary at the Galaxy Theater[now called The Observatory]. We were also able to extend this invitation to a lucky listener of Dank Radio. So before we begin we'd like to thank Drew and everyone at SMOG for their hospitality. Previous to Skream's lower frequency onslaught we were able to catch Kelly Dean and Flinch represent for the whole SMOG crew. DJ Skeet Skeet warmed up [...]
Listen to Bill Callahan aka Smog Brings Alt-Country to Waylon Jennings' 'If You Could Touch Her At All'
Bill Callahan, 'If You Could Touch Her at All' (Lee Clayton Cover) Bill Callahan closed out the year of his Apocalypse with a fall jaunt through Europe that wrapped in Paris over the weekend. Included in the encore at that show and others was a rare cover tune from the man formerly known as Smog: "If You Could Touch Her at All," a Lee Clayton-penned song made popular by Waylon Jennings in 1974. Thanks to Permanent Smile , we can hear a recording of his faithful take from the [...]

I've never been much of a fan of Halloween. Or at least not beyond my days of extreme candy greed. I have a hard time thinking of a costume, it's usually really terrible when I finally decide on one, and then I spend the rest of the night having everyone tell me how lame my costume is. So I gave up and just leave the holiday to the people that are into that sort of thing. But I do really like the strive for spookiness in Halloween. I'm not a big fan of the goofiness of the costumes [...]
Feeling slightly better this morning (my fever broke in the middle of the night, which is always a weird feeling - waking up in a pool of your own sweat but cooler and somewhat relieved) I donned my Sunday Best and drove out to Topanga State Park for my dear friends Fawn and Brian's wedding. [...]

These chilling images were taken during London's Great Smog of '52. For four days the city of London was blanketed by a poisonous smog that reduced visibility to a few yards and led to an estimated 12,000 fatalities. From NPR : Roads were littered with abandoned cars. Midday concerts were cancelled due to total darkness. Archivists at the British Museum found smog lurking in the book stacks. Cattle in the city's Smithfield market were killed and thrown away before they could be slaughtered and sold — their lungs were black. [...]
![[Review/Listen] – I Break Horses – "Hearts"](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3758965_lg.jpg)
Tweet Buy the album on Amazon - MP3 | CD I Break Horses is the name of Swedish duo Maria Lindén and Fredrick Balck and a reference to one of Smog's most famous, well-crafted and artful songs. But while this reference may suggest similarities between I Break Horses and the band that produced their eponymous song, this is not the case. While Smog's lush instrumentals made up for their [...]
