Snakes Say Hisss ' new 7" is full of infectious beginnings and carefully faded endings. Where it falters is the middle. Instead of reaching for a shimmery plateau, the songs sputter and shrink. "Comes and Goes" and "Right Behind You" come following four years without new material from the Philly-born Snakes Say Hisss (which now calls Brooklyn home). The band trades in shiny electro-pop, riding the same wave MGMT and Cut Copy came in on. We can't stop loving the two dudes in Philly-based Snakes Say Hisss! (above). They're really good at creating synth-based, fun-as-fuck pop in the vain of The Death Set or Japanther . We weren't familiar with Boogie Boarder (we know) until just this morning, and we're lamenting that fact for sure after hearing the Brooklyn band's drums and march of "Bummers Begin", off of Children Of The Goo . Dudes, we have to say something real quick. When we were growing up, we knew this girl who would always eat those blue raspberry-flavored Blow Pops. It would turn her tongue all blue and nasty and we could never take her the least bit seriously because of that.
