Hand hoch! Also meine war jedenfalls sofort oben. Neimo - Lines Phoenix - Lasso The [...]

This is it! The last Wesley the Robot Cartoon of the year! I decided to take a hiatus from the squid battle and do something more festive and cute. Who would have ever thought that "Cute" would be the word to describe this emotionally impaired automoton? Stay tuned for more on Wesley's meteoric rise to fame. In the meantime, enjoy this cold, snowy, winter-y mix. AZLTRON - Snowday (By Me!) Snowfight in the City Centre - No Light Left Graig [...]

The Moths! - Wild Birds (Alt) [...]

A lot of bloggers post Holiday/Christmas mixes around this time, but since I've already been down that road before and over the weekend my hometown got about 8 inches of snow, I've decided to make a mix that evokes that wintry feeling. All of the songs on this mix in some way remind me of winter, snow on the ground, icicles, chestnuts roasting by an open fire, all that good stuff. For some reason that translates to distant guitar, synths, reverberation, bells, songs with "snow" in the title, all of which play a part in this mix. I [...]
One of the most promising English bands I've heard this year is Snowfight in the City Centre. The band has a huge sound and just the right amount of electronica and post-punk thrown in to maintain an original sounding breath-of-fresh-air sound. Their music is somewhere within the realm of Bloc Party and Snow Patrol, which is a good realm to be in if you ask me. The band's first single (which was released early last year) was called "No Light Left" and people started taking notice right away. The Manchester press has been [...]

Barzin - Won't you come This song sounds like something off of an M. Ward album with that slide guitar and the old 1950's production sound. This sounds like the perfect song to listen to after a massive rift in your life and you are just sick of being yourself, and all the trouble that comes along with it. (buy it here ) Snowfight in the City Center - No Light Left The guitar line on this song really reaches out and grabs you and forces you to be uplifted. [...]
Snowfight In The City Centre - No Light Left Manchester has an amazing musical heritage, even discounting the Madchester scene of the early 90s. Recently, one of its more impressive exports have been long-time radio.edit favourites Doves . Unfortunately, Doves' most recent album fell a little bit flat for me, failing to live up to the dizzy heights of their 2002 masterpiece The Last Broadcast . Those dizzy heights are instead being scaled by another group of Manchester locals - Snowfight In The City Centre. On 'No Light Left', Snowfight capture the widescreen epic-indie [...]
Snowfight in the City Centre, "No Light Left" The Long Blondes, "Fulwood Babylon" I used to think of downloading as the last refuge of the digitally retarded, but my habits in consumption seem to have brought me to a point where I either nut up and buy a turntable (or as I like to think of it, a one-way ticket to debtor's prison) or grit my teeth and start paying for ones and zeroes. Frankly, I'm still not all that comfortable with the situation - when you've had hard drives die the [...]
