Photo credit: Deirdre O'Callaghan There's just one more week until we head down to Austin, Texas for world renowned music festival/conference SXSW. But let's not make the mistake of overlooking the amazing bands coming through New York this week. Tennis , Bombay Bicycle Club , YAWN , Neon Indian , and Daughter all have dates in either Brooklyn or Manhattan, yet it's Fanfarlo on tour supporting their their sophomore LP, Rooms Filled With Light , that you truly shouldn't miss. ![[Listen] Titus Andronicus and The So So Glos - "Glory Days" (Bruce Springsteen Cover)](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3925046_lg.jpg)
New Jersey-based band Titus Andronicus are a nice group of people, as our interview with Sleeper Agent's Alex Kandel can attest to, and the band has once again shown that they really do appreciate their fans. This time around, the band's lead singer Patrick Stickles let loose a cover of Bruce Springsteen 's "Glory Days" via his Twitter account. The cover sees brand new Titus Andronicus member Liam Betson on vocals doing his best Springsteen, while the rest of the band, with the help of Brooklyn band The So So Glos, adds their [...]
A couple of months ago, we posted a list of the 10 best Coldplay covers . That list is safe. New Jersey punk rock champions Titus Andronicus recently posted an intentionally ramshackle, lo-fi cover of " In My Place " on Twitter, and holy god this thing is awful. It's awful on purpose, but it's still awful. Also, I don't remember that part about taking a dirty shit in the original song. Listen below. Read More...

Patrick Stickles, lead singer of the New Jersey's own Titus Andronicus , has a very followable twitter account . He's wicked forthcoming about opinions musical, political, and otherwise, insider band info (e.g. there's a new Titus Andronicus album due out next year sometime), and best of all, he drops some tracks on you here and there. The latest is a cover of the Bruce Springsteen staple "Glory Days" with his band and Brooklyn cohorts The So So Glos . This recording features new Titus Andronicus member Liam Betson on vocals doing a capable [...]

God, I just can't get enough of this band! Every time I hear something new, I immediately get excited. The So So Glos are a little bit brash, but definitely energetic, which makes it easy to fall so hard for their hooks. This new track hit the Internet just before Thanksgiving, and I've been jamming ever since then, eagerly awaiting news on their upcoming album. These guys seem to just want to have a good time, and sometimes rock n' roll needs that bit of fun, so here's to these dudes just kicking out [...]

photos by Guy Eppel all the bands @ Shea Stadium Ted Leo, Titus Andronicus & the So So Glos got together at all ages, DIY Brooklyn venue She Stadium on Monday night (11/21) to benefit the National Lawyer's Guild who help the Occupy Movement . As you can see from the above pic, the night included some collaboration. There were topical covers too... Near the end of Titus's set, someone requested a [...]

A few days after the NYPD evicted the Occupy Wall Street camp from Zuccotti Park, and a couple of days after this scandalous bullshit went down at UC Davis, Titus Andronicus frontman Patrick Stickles has organized a last-minute benefit show that goes down tonight at Shea Stadium in Brooklyn. The show will feature Titus, Ted Leo And The Pharmacists, and the So So Glos, and it will serve as a benefit for the National Lawyers Guild , an organization currently fighting for protesters' rights. And because this is Patrick Stickles we're talking about, the show [...]

Jelly NYC brings the party back to North Brooklyn with a free show this afternoon at The Morgan. The Death Set, So So Glos, Cerebral Ballzy, Japanther, The Growlers and CSC Funk Band are playing. That, my friends, is awesome!

Recommended Show: FRIDAY, MAY 6, 2011 LIGHTNING BOLT, DUCKTAILS, PTERODACTYL, & THE SO SO GLOS @ NYU STRAWBERRY FESTIVAL LaGuardia Pl New York, NY 10012 FREE, 1PM This would really be a good day to sneak out of work or class and head on down to the NYU campus in Manhattan. Lightning Bolt , Ducktails , Pterodactyl , and The So So Glos will all be playing. Call in sick! Holly Golightly @ Knitting Factory Reggie [...]

Lightning Bolt is crazy. They have the loudest, rumbliest, most rocking live show, and it is something not to be missed. Combine that with the outdoors on a nice spring day- the juxtaposition is sure to be magic! Plus, you also get to see Pterodactyl, Ducktails, and So So Glos. AND enjoy street booths manned by NYU students. Which, you know, might be a good thing or a bad thing. The music, though, that's definitely a good thing. MP3: "Dead Cowboy" - Lightning Bolt

Awhile back, I shared a new comic with you about going to The Bell House with my friend Meredith. We posted another installment last week, this time at The Bell House. We saw some really excellent talented new bands, including Grand Rapids and Balkans. Both definitely worth checking out. And, of course, The So So Glos ruled. Check out our interpretation of the whole night over at Impose . MP3: "Edita V" - Balkans
MTV Skins is a terrible show, above is a picture from Perez Hilton of three of the cast members of the show. Even though it's a bad show, I continue to watch it and laugh and throw my hands in the air because the nonsense these teenagers go through i
I guess Shane MacGowan is a fan of the Brooklyn music scene. As always, The Pogues are playing their famous St. Patrick's Day shows in NYC starting tonight. This year they have local boys Titus Andronicus and So So Glos opening up for them. That's a pretty huge honor (especially since this might be the last time The Pogues play the States) and it should be great to see a band like SSG up on the
Independent rock/rap/destructo act on the rise Rocky Business had their mixtape release party this past Wednesday (for "White People Are Drug Dealers Too") at Mercury Lounge and Belle Z. was so stoked about it she just had to go. We were of course cool with it--she shot their rehearsals a bit ago too--so she got [...]
Our homeboys in Raccoon Fighter are playing the last night of their residency at Cake Shop tonight with our pals Gunfight!. The after party is at Darkroom with Schoolboy, Dirtyfinger and Prince Terrence DJing. Link:Raccoon Fighter Residency Link:Hussle Club & So So Glos Link:After
Tweet No. I don't keep up with the Kardashians. I could care less about living through vapidity. I understand though that there is a world out there where following the goings-on of people like Kim Kardashian is par for the course. I also must admit that the girl is hot. Apparently the boys from NYC hip-pop duo Rocky Business feel the same way as they present their debut single from their brand new mixtape called... Kim Kardashian. The song is exactly what you would expect it to be about. A nearly [...]

We're looking forward to getting things back into gear in New York for THE RUMBLE that happens monthly there at The Studio @ Webster Hall . This month the party falls on the 28th and features two bands curated by our partners THE WILD HONEY PIE , and one we've been hearing great things about. The show features THE SO SO GLOS , LADY LAMB & THE BEEKEEPER & BOW RIBBONS . More details coming soon....
