![[Listen] Wax Idols: "Say Hello, Wave Goodbye" (Soft Cell Cover)](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/4936786_lg.jpg)
The good folk at Dangerous Minds are great at unearthing amazing YouTube rarities, and they outdid themselves last week with a 1971 performance by Ike and Tina Turner, which goes down in history as one of the most subtly filthy live performances we've ever seen — it's basically one long allusion to oral sex, with Tina spending most of her time doing very, very suggestive things to the microphone, and while Ike's ophidian glare still gives us the creeps, he does make some glorious slurping noises into his own mic. The crowd clearly knows exactly what's going on, [...]
Goin’ Old School isn’t a trip down music memory lane, it’s a mugging in the dark alleyway of nostalgia: Today get your ears around Casco ’s absolute Italo classic from 1983. Cybernetic Love. And from 1981, Soft Cell ode to London, Bedsitter. You can buy most of this music from: [...]

KEXP's very own Kurt B. Reighley - perhaps better known to listeners as DJ El Toro - has written a delightful eBook on the life and times of nu-wave legends Soft Cell for Rhino Music's Single Notes series. Single Notes is a new series of digital short-form eBooks that focus on bands and albums that make lasting impact on pop culture, featuring such titles as Super Freak: The Last Days Of Rick James and Careless Memories of Strange Behavior: My Notorious Life as a Duran Duran [...]

![Hot Chip – In Our Heads [album review]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/4331622_lg.jpg)
It's groups like Hot Chip that make me optimistic about the current state of the music industry. This week, the London-based septet released their fifth full-length album "In Our Heads" on Domino Recording Co. and let me tell you, it's a beauty. In my opinion, Hot Chip have produced some of the best singles and LP's of the past decade and 'In Our Heads' only solidifies that thought in my head. As many artists (particularly electronic ones) in this day and age are ditching the album format for singles and EPs, [...]
It goes without saying that Suicide were immeasurably influential for the worlds of industrial, dance, and electronic music as a broad, brilliant whole. And with that kind of path-paving comes the need from the students of such a singular act to give a little back, as Soft Cell fittingly do here on the BBC. Foetus mastermind Jim Thirlwell, a.k.a. Clint Ruin, joins Marc Almond in channeling Alan Vega's cryptic, snarling aura, both rendering with an amphetamine sheen the Suicide classic "Ghost Rider" into something approaching a dance-floor-enticing "Frankie Teardrop" (mainly through Thirlwell's flailing shouts). Wild and cathartic:
Following up their debut single " The Beach " we have the video for London duo Age Of Consent 's newest single, "Heartbreak". The track is oozing with a dark 80s-esque goth-pop vibe, much like that of Information Society, Soft Cell or Depeche Mode. As you may already know, the band is comprised of former Shitdisco members Joe Reeves and Darren Cullen. The duo are currently prepping for the launch of "Heartbreak", which will be availabe on June 11th with a launch show following after that on the 13th with T.W.I.N.S. There will also be a show this coming [...]

clash of the 80's new wave pop titans Soft Cell - Tainted Love Depeche Mode - Personal Jesus http://www.youtube.com/watch?v =t-csYs5w7iY
Ah, I love this. Age of Consent, originally from the Glasgow school of art and now based in London have a new single coming out called Heartbreak due for release this June. Combining all the synth driven post punk and new wave stuff from the 80s like Soft Cell and The Normal and collaborating with Luke Smith who has worked with Foals and Depeche Mode previously, it's pop with a dark undertone. Man, do I love me some Soft Cell...this video is rare as hens teeth, but thanks to the wonders of the interwebs, here it is. Visit director Tim Pope's website here . Hat tip to Dangerous Minds for finding it on Vimeo. UPDATE - Vimeo has had the video removed. Try it on YouTube here .

Blech, it's late and I am only just sitting down at my desk, so apologies for being a little behind on things. I didn't sleep in or anything, I promise, I've just been running around like a blue-arsed fly doing assorted domestic shit. Mrs. Toad kindly reminded me that, as well as a record label and a bunch of bands, I also happen to have a wife so this weekend I might make a bit of an effort to be a slightly more attentive husband that I might have been recently. Apart from recording with Dolfinz on Saturday [...]

Oke, sper că v-aţi prins care-i treaba... Acum să purcedem! 1. Lead Belly - In The Pines Cunoscută de marea majoritate sub numele de [...]
![Hannah Peel| “Tainted Love” (Soft Cell Cover) [Audio]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3652178_lg.jpg)
Thank the advertisers for this post! Hannah Peel got our attention this past weekend with her extremely gorgeous cover of Soft Cell's "Tainted Love." The version will also be used in the upcoming FX show "American Horror Story," which features Emmy nominated Friday Night Lights star Connie Britton. Honestly the track (below) is a perfect fit for the creepy promo which you can view after the jump. Hannah Peel - Tainted Love (Soft Cell Cover) Download [...]

She's back, with a vengeance. The article that I could work on all day and still feel like there's more to do. Got a favourite remix of a song that is at least 10 years old? Post it in the comments, preferably with the original!
