Soft Metals ' Patricia & Ian listed over 40 of their favorite releases of 2011, check them out below. Glad to see Silk Flowers and Kindest Lines getting some love. Soft Metals' self-titled debut LP is out now on Captured Tracks . We probably forgot some really amazing ones, but these spring to mind. Releases in alphabetical order: Frank Alpine : Frank Alpine [Wierd Records] Animal Bodies : Kiss of the Fang [Sweating Tapes] Arohan : Going [Sweating Tapes] Austra : Feel It Break [...]
With fewer and fewer albums being released in favour of more cost-effective EPs and singles the Best Album category becomes harder and harder to preside over, luckily for us there were some choice cuts this year and some amazing records dropped. The winner was very nearly going to be Mitch Murder 's recently released 'Current Events'. Which, to my mind, is the best SynthWave/Outrun/Dreamwave album ever made. However, the album that has kept us constantly rocking this year has to be Holy Ghost! 's self-titled début. Although I had loved the previous singles I [...]

If you've been even remotely regular in following this blog, our number one shouldn't come as a surprise - I believe I've already bothered you enough with my love of Gang Gang Dance's latest effort (and GGD in general ). I'll leave the list unnumbered because, except for the first 7-8 entries, the rest come in kind of (but not entirely) particular order. And it's not a strictly albums -of-the-year list, as I've included some mixtapes/remix albums/ compilations. Also, I just realised we haven't covered half of this on the blog… Don't [...]
Here's the new video for Soft Metals ' amazing 'Psychic Driving'. Quite an old tune, but no less awesome, now, this video was put together by Erica Schreiner. Soft Metals' self-titled début album is out now. Buy Soft Metals' music from: [...]
For the record, I think the Lana Del Rey video for "Born To Die" is the trashiest, most over-hyped video I've seen all year. But it's here if you haven't seen it yet. Everything below is better. Lots of waaaaaaaaa!, and a little ugggh. -Matt
back from a 450-calories lunch, and Portland trio the SOFT METALS have unleashed a hazy new retro video for their PSYCHIC DRIVING mp3. good luck trying to figure out wots going on. wotyougot
Soft Metals have released a new video for 'Psychic Driving', one of the highlights from this year's excellent self-titled debut LP. Video made by Erica Schreiner. Soft Metals is out on Captured Tracks . If you can see this, then you might need a Flash Player upgrade or you need to install Flash Player if it's missing. Get Flash Player from Adobe. New video from the Portland retro synth-pop couple Soft Metals, "Psychic Driving" is probably my favorite track from their S/T debut on Capture Tracks. The aquatic video was created by video artist Erica Schreiner. Watch | Soft Metals - Psychic Driving

Facebook / bbblouse.bandcamp.com/ We might be heading towards the run-in as far as 2011 releases go and soon, no doubt, we'll be faced with the usual annual barrage of 'best of lists' (this blog will be no different), but the year, which I think has been a fabulous one for new music, still holds a few aces up its sleeves, one of them is the self-titled debut LP by Portland's Blouse which is released November 1st (US) / 7th (UK). I've been following Blouse since they put the hypnotic "Into [...]
In a desire to share even more great, free music with you, the Sunday Sampler offers a handful of tracks without the usual critical and biographical write-up. Less talk, more tunes. [tweetmeme] German Error Message "In Comforting" from the In Comforting digital single [ released 5/4/11 | indie rock, indie-pop ] [ download ] Hess Is More "Creation Keeps the Devil Away" from [...]
I've kinda been digging on this band Blouse from Portland. They've, predictably, got the wistful and gloomy early 802s emo-smear-pop thing going on. I've highlighted their labelmates, Soft Metals , a few times, and while the two don't really sound that much alike, much can be gathered from those different than you. We should be more open-minded! Below you'll find a video for their single, "Videotapes", which uses a bunch of Minolta stock advert footage from decades past. I also added a few mp32s I found on some of those bigger, [...]
