The danger of releasing music in the final weeks of the year (danger, that is, if you actually give two shits about what I'm about to say, and I'm going to guess a lot of artists don't) is that you risk missing out on all the year-end lists that we bloggers feel compelled to compile and regurgitate out into the world. That's certainly the case with Soft Powers' insanely addictive new track, "Fever," a 2:38 dance-inflected blast of soaring synths, growly bass and mildly blown-out vocals that relentlessly drive this infectious jam forward. Had this song been released [...]

2011 was the year I dove headlong into local music. I listened to just about everything I could get a hold of, scouring through Facebook, Bandcamp and Soundcloud in my attempts to discover as many local artists and as much local music as I possibly could. But even now I feel as if there's so much out there that I'm missing out on. New bands and artists seem to to be sprouting up every day and the landscape of Atlanta music is constantly in flux, morphing and shifting into something unique and different. And so while the list [...]

NMB-favoriterna Soft Powers från Atlanta är lika ombytliga som de är konsekvent briljanta. Nedan kan du streama en ny och annorlunda EP titulerad Quest , som tar oss med på en psykedelisk och dansant färd till "[The G.A.L.X.I.N Province] in space" Quest EP by Soft Powers
I found this little diddy throughout the internets and it's a pretty nice find. Soft Powers from Georgia are made up of Dylan Anderson, Bo Fletcher, and Gage Gilmore. And what I know of music from Georgia and especially Athens, this fits the mold. Their lo-fi track "Just Like Tropica-L" is a short psych-pop track [...]

Lots of lo-fi, sticky, sugary fuzz pop packed into this song by Georgia's Soft Powers. Dream away… Mp3: Soft Powers- just like tropica-L

It feels like it has been awhile since we last sprung a mix on you, so today felt like a good time to unleash the June mix. It's packed with yummy pop treats, grimy lo-fi indie rock and sexy (albeit a little on the naughty side) r&b. If you have sensitive ears and would like to avoid some of the more... ahem... scandalous lyrics, I might suggest avoiding the track from The-Dream (but it is a really really good song). Anyways, there is so much here that I'm pretty sure you'll find something you like. Turntable [...]

Prenumererar du inte på Soft Powers Bandcamp -feed har du säkerligen missat en hel del, då Atlanta-trion - i vanlig ordning - smugit ut en hel del låtar på sistone, den ena mer unik än den andra. Deras senaste kreation är en mysig ballad vid namn A deathly lit ballroom (in her birthday-suit) , och den kommer här Soft Powers - A deathly lit ballroom (in her birthday-suit)

Soft Powers is a duo out of Georgia who have produced one hell of a brilliantly dense and complex track with "Meher Baba". The song immediately throws you into a strange state of tension with scurrying synths and rapid eye percussion. It all cuts, and from somewhere underwater the bass surfaces. It's funky, but funky in the way Radiohead can get funky; where your not quite sure what planet the groove came from. The vocals swim through the woven background textures and appear as some sort of haunted tropical chant, followed by a series of drowned out howls. "Mehar Baba" [...]
Soft Powers - 1,300 Decibels Somehow I didn't hear anything about this Soft Powers album Outlandish Scandals. Maybe because it came out during... (Visit my blog for more!)

You know when you want to do something and you keep meaning to do it but it gets put off, not because you're not interested but because things happen in life, things like work and raising kids, so you write down what it is you want to do, put it squarely at the top of your to do list, but it still slips past you because you keep leaving your list at home and so you rely on your memory, but every time you remember what it is you want to do it's at some inconvenient moment like when your [...]

Soft Powers — Violence Lest my sleep-deprived ears/duct-taped headphones deceive me, I'm detecting a whole lotta Thom Yorke in this tender, falsetto-heavy cut from Soft Powers . Auditory hallucinations aside, their new Outlandish Scandals album is a killer follow-up to the slew of EP's + singles they've been dishing out for the last few months. I suggest you hit up the ol' bandcamp and give it a spin. [ mp3 ]
Soft Powers - Meher Baba This song is ridiculous.

Soft Powers // Outlandish Scandals

One of the many reasons I love Georgia's Soft Powers is that the band members don't adhere to one sound, too many artists these days set boundaries to accumulate a signature sound. A perfect example is their newest digital single "Ozymandias (Never Meant To)" (which I hope is a Watchmen reference ) its essentially a dance track, loops and bassed out beats abound. Download the full digital single from their bandcamp . Soft Powers - Ozymandias (Never Meant To) previously : [...]

Tired of this cold weather, I had been reminiscing about spending last summer by the pool listening to a lot of chillwave. So between that and watching the opening sequence of Portlandia for the past few weeks, I was pretty stoked to catch this show. Unfortunately as of late, I've been disappointed with every concert that I had high expectations for, and this was no exception. I got there nice and early to catch Soft Powers , whose recorded material I really enjoy. If I'm not mistaken, this live incarnation of Soft Powers [...]
Dirty Beaches are a downright staple around these parts (evidence: here, here, and here) and this upcoming release of a cover of Johnny Cash's "The Singer" will only help to bolster these sentiments. It's slow and brooding and has the same gritty folk fuzz Dirty Beaches are so in love with. I think The Man [...]
