If you're about to head out tonight, you should take a listen to the latest offering from Alex Cameron , (otherwise known as the babe from Seekae ). Having been a fan of Seekae since they first came out, I'm forever obliged to take a listen to whatever comes next from this Sydney based trio. The last we heard from the Seekae boys was the stunning ' Yech ', a mello, down-tempo jam laced with soul-rnb undercurrents. For some, it seemed as though the band departed from +Dome's aesthetic into more of the brooding, [...]
Lost Boy' s home recordings are full of lo-fi charm. His creative output is relentless; often recording several songs per month, he's a music machine assembly line with a distinct, in-your-face falsetto. There's a certain depth to his compositions, despite being only one man with an 8-track recorder. Check out "Chew", the first single off of his debut album, due out later this year. The video will send you on a cosmic journey to the center of the lo-fi universe. MP3: Lost Boy - "Chew"

The sun returns and with it also comes SOLO again; his new song drips with good-vibes guitars, first-thing-in-the-morning vocals, sleepy synths and a generally pleasing ambience. As with his previous material , this is dream-pop with guitars; or, in his own words, "it has moments of heartache but makes the listener want to play air-guitar or drum along!" Too right it does. If you like that, it's a safe bet you'll like this: a melancholy boy-girl Beach House cover with Ally Russell .

Ahead of The xx 's sold-out Australian tour, Jamie XX has announced he'll be playing solo shows in Perth, Melbourne and Sydney this March and April. The tour comes off a big few years for Jamie, who has built on his already solid reputation after some massive remixes and edits. More recently, his re-edit of Sunset by The xx gained massive hype, combining hauntingly mellow vocals and Jamie's notoriously smooth production. You can catch Jamie XX at The Bakery in Perth on March 31; in Melbourne [...]

The lovely lead singer of Brazilian Girls Sabina is getting ready to release her first solo album in 2013 . The first taste of the new record is first single "Toujours" which she has just released a rather revealing/funny video for. Digging the tune! Always loved her/Brazilian Girls so I'm sure the new record is gonna be ace! Can't wait to hear the rest of it. For now check out that great new video.

This rather endearing/slightly confusing track comes from Seattle's Belgian Fog , a solo project which veers towards the more interesting side of pop; the side that I think deals with mental health issues or something along those lines. Take a listen to the unsettlingly happy Wait for Help below:

Decided to go to Raw Sugar Cafe for a kind of intimate acoustic indie rock show. You can say it was solo guy musicians. Playing at the show: • Chris Page • Jon Hynes The show started off with Jon Hynes . If you were wondering why he looks familiar. He plays in Hidden Cameras. This time he is going solo and previewed [...]

Valentina featured on one of my favourite tracks of the last couple of years but I've never really gotten a chance to hear her own stuff before. So hearing her beautiful new track Wolves has gotten me super excited. I'm not into that whole Valentine's Day thing, but if I were I'd probably be sipping a glass of wine with this on loop the whole evening. Wolves is out on Greco-Roman now:
Hey! It's Valentine's Day? Is that a rubbish enough segue into a Bullet For My Valentine interview? Probably not. Oh well. As regular readers of Thrash Hits know, Bullet For My Valentine are most definitely a band we have opinions ( fast forward to 33mins 13 secs... ) that sometimes get us in to a bit of trouble with them. So when Nick Hagan emailed us late last year telling us that he had some time interviewing Michael "Padge" Paget from thet band (that's him lurking behind Matt Tuck above and looking like he might bite your throat out), [...]

Photo by G. Del Marquis Are you ready to have a solo kiki? Scissor Sisters' guitarist Del Marquis is prepping for a spring release of his debut solo album "Slow Nights" and to whet everyone's appetite, he's offering a free mixtape for a limited time. The 6 track mixtape features Xavier (on an ultra funky cover of Jermaine Jackson's "Let Me Tickle Your Fancy") and also features members of Prince's former band the New Power Generation! Download "Tickle" on Del's official site while supplies last [...]
Despite the fact that his latest full-length album, There is Love in You , was released in 2010, Four Tet has hardly had an uninteresting past couple of years. Last year brought us Pink , a stellar compilation of 123 singles that he had released separately prior, and just a few weeks ago, the producer dropped 0181 , a collection of material recorded between 1997 and 2001. The producer's latest offering is a new single under the moniker KH, which is short for his birth name, Kieran Hebden. Stream [...]

Chaz plays beautiful solo piano versions of a couple Anything in Return highlights, live in France for le mouv : STUDIES : GROWN UP CALLS :

Beyond the Bay Area: A Sacramento Mixtape (Podcast #297) It's not technically part of the Bay Area - and by "technically," of course, we mean "at all" - but we've been known to cheat a little bit and claim a good number of Sacramento bands as adopted locals over the years. Can you really blame us? Plenty of acts from the state's capital have made an big impact on independent music, including Death Grips, Chelsea Wolfe, and Trash Talk. All three of those groups eventually migrated to Los Angeles, with Death Grips leaking their latest album [...]

I was longing some chirpy/happy sounds today. It's amazingly cold out in Paris (France) at the moment, and warm interiors make for a dull weather low, need to kick-back... Add 'Paperhearts" to your winter playlist and warm your soul a little. It's sounds you can play and singalong to. Much happier than Plaid Dragon for instance. The music of The Airplanes is written and recorded by Joshua Vest, a songwriter in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Yes, another band from the States. The Airplanes ' self-titled EP features a collection of noisy, melodic pop songs. Vest is currently [...]
