There is little doubt that Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin still have the greatest band name in all of music today, maybe ever. Their new album Let It Sway also proves that there is little doubt that the band know how to play charming and quirky indie pop. At this point we know pretty much what to expect from SSLYBY. That's not a bad thing in this case. Sometimes you just need the sunny

When Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin first began in 2005, it was hard to predict which would last: the blog buzz, the band or Boris Yeltsin himself. As it turned out, despite a little turnover, it is the band that's remained and who now have their finest recording to date under their collective belt. Recorded with Death Cab for Cutie's Chris Walla and Beau Sorenson at Smart Studios in Madison, Wisconsin, Let It Sway replaces the geeky naivety of their previous records with a good amount of self-assuredness. Songs like "Everlyn" and "Critical Drain" exhibit all the [...]

LET IT SWAY//SOMEONE STILL LOVES YOU BORIS YELTSINWoah! Where'd all these rocks come from?! In the musical river that is Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin things just got a bit rockier. It might not seem as such for about a minute and a half into the first song on the album, "Back In The Saddle", but trust me it's there. Don't worry though, it's not rocky enough to create rapids... man this

If you're Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin , the year's starting to get pretty busy around now. The band just released their pretty good third album , Let It Sway, along with a "making of" documentary, and are prepped to start touring in support of the record. So what's next? More tour dates, of course! Following a previously announced tour of the middle and east sides of North America in late August/early September and then a subsequent European tour in October, the Missouri based outfit will return stateside in November. On [...]

This has been a busy week and a half for me. I quite literally traveled from one corner of the continental US to another and then made a few stops in the middle. Throughout the ten days, I passed through 6 airports on a total of 9 flights and slept in 5 states. Now that I'm back, here are The Wheel's Still In Spin's suggested new releases for this week, albeit it a bit late. As always, feel free to leave a comment with your suggestions. When I first heard the Springfield, MO, band Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin (or SSLYBY, for you cool kids), I was a senior in college and at a small concert in St. Louis on the campus of Webster University. The band was playing a show in the Student Center there, and I attended with my girlfriend at the time and a friend from high school who were students at Webster. My friend from high school knew the band and were good friends with them, so we sat and chatted with the band a while before the show. They [...]

File this post under better late than never. I can highly recommend Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin's new LP Let It Sway . SSLYBY is one of the few bands out there that should be getting more hype than they are. In June I debuted a new single from singer/songwriter John Statz's new album Ghost Towns . The new LP was released this past Thursday and if you're looking for a great Indie Folk [...]

Let It Sway , the new release by the indie pop rock foursome Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin, is the next step in their evolution. All that was ever lacking from Springfield Missouri's, SSLYBY output was better production and a little more rocking spirit. Let It Sway has both. Wonderful melodies and hooks have never been lacking from the band's songs and they are in abundance here as well. Only now there is more heft and boom behind them. The CD which was released on August 17th on Polyvinyl Records is streaming for free at MBV music. Listen [...]

Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin - Let It Sway MMMM Back in May, Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin released the first single from their new album, Let It Sway , entitled "Sink/Let It Sway". It turns out that song was rather indicative of the new album's tone and direction. Let It Sway proves that there are still bands around making strong indie pop records. But you know, it's not just that; it's an album [...]
