So I am another year older today.... Ha last year I remember well, Keath putting together a great little podcast for me when we both wrote for Rock Sellout. This year I thought maybe I should reflect and give you all a little mixtape!!!! So I have spent a good part of this evening trawling my mp3's. These are all artists I have had the pleasure to write about. Most of them bring back fond gig memories or interviews. Ok so it's a little self-indulgent but just thought I would include [...]

Look out! Its our 'Mix For The Weekend IV' , something which we strayed from since the beginning of last year . Our weekend mixes are made for the sole purpose to mix some better known indie groups with some lesser known ones to give a diverse overall mix and help you hear some bands who may not be getting all of the attention they deserve. (We will note that there are one or two songs from previous years on here). Most notable on the mix below is our most anticipated band of 2009, The [...]

Before I get into all of this, be sure to enter our Ragged/Filter contest - we're giving out a bunch of free goodies, so don't miss out! Now, on to our mix. Our third installment of the weekend mix is a particularly good one and includes a lot of music from the UK, per usual. You may have perused our new music this week and noticed we were talked up Tokyo Police Club quite a bit. No album this year hit me quite the same as this one - [...]

Overseas - Sonic Flyer Oasis meets shoegaze and nine months later, out comes Sonic Flyer. This song features an absolutely killer intro - there are few moments in all of music finer than at 35 seconds when the vocals first come in - and while it drags on a bit at almost 8 minutes, this is a solid endeavor. There's plenty more great songs to hear at their myspace , where you can get info about their Sun in My Pocket EP

Well, kids, who would've thought I'd have the perseverance to make it to Volume 10 of the now world-unreknown "A Baker's Dozen" series? 10 volumes over a mere 19 months. Not too shabby. But, enough waxing nostalgic. Back to what's happening NOW! 01. Lucky Soul - " Ain't Never Been Cool ". Yeah, that's it, call 'em all out on this whole "cool" thang! "I heard you say what you want, say what you [...]

Last year's UK Festival of the year, Latitude , run by the Mean Fiddler Organisation took place weekend 13/14/15 of July. Rather than review the big name bands that performed, I thought you guys might like my take on three of the smaller bands that blew me away. Fresh from supporting Noel and Gem (from Oasis) in Moscow at Noel's request, Sonic Flyer took to the stage at 1.15 in the Sunrise Arena (a lovely arena tucked away in the woods). From the opening chords [...]
