The SONIQUE , who recently stated she'd like to work with the CALVIN HARRIS, has collaborated with the PAUL MORRELL on non-magical non-dance-anthem, WOT YOU'RE DOIN' . Which is wot I wonder too. Video happens mainly against a white screen. That is all.

London genre-benders Kings of the City have just released an excellent new "Covers" EP (which you can sample for free here ). Have to hand it to the blokes in song selection department, Fleetwood Mac's "The Chain", Wretch32's "Don't Go", the classic(!) Sonique track "Feels So Good". Well done, chaps. KotC's frenetic take on "Let Me Go" by Maverick Sabre is our choice track from the set. Give this heatrock a spin below. Kings of the City - Let Me Go (Maverick Sabre) Kings of the City [...]

So, Tiesto has been playing this bootleg in all of his sets on his college invasion tour and it has many people wondering, what is that new Tiesto song? Well, here's the song, but its not Tiesto, its Marco V. Marco V bootleg's the 902s radio hit "It Feels So Good" by Sonique and turns it into an electro tune that you do not want to miss! Black Cherry formed in 2007 when singer/songwriter Meghane Quashie, drummer Guilhem Fraisse, and guitarist Robert Moore decided to present the world with a unique electro-pop/synth-rock sound. Sadly, in 2009 Moore's untimely passing left the group as a duo. Their second EP The Prefa... Read more..

Oh hi! Remember me? I barely do... considering the whirlwind'rishing sort of week we've had since right before Christmastime factivities and still continuing on through this moment. Seriously, this very minute right now. Neither here nor there, though, cause I was simply going to leave this space untouched til the new set of calendrical offerings, but that's not really fair to you or me. I need a hot few seconds to breathe and release and let my weird words fly, so herein, a brief catchup. And hopefully 'tis not the last til [...]
Emerging from the British dance scene from the late 1980's, DJ and producer Mark Moore created the acid-house project S'Express, which also featured fellow engineer Pascal Gabriel (see also Soft Cell, Erasure and New Order) and DJ/vocalist Sonique. Throwing himself in the burgeoning sampling culture, the group's most famous song, "Overture/Theme from S'Express", utilised over a dozen sample cuts,

It's no secret that around the land of Beastonia, we swoon for all things associated with Annie Mac , her mixes, her radio show and her influence on today's top artists. We've featured many of the 5 minute mini mixes that are put together for her BBC Radio1 show by some of today's noted notables. Most recently, Ms. Mac enlisted three of the hottest cats on the scene to pump out their blend of new, old and original tunes in their own unique 5 minute [...]

Hi, folks. Sorry about the lack of Stagger Lee over the weekend -- I had a family daytrip to go on, and forgot to prepare a post ahead of time. Why? Well, I was working on this: It's October, and people all over the world will be listening to "I'll Put A Spell On You" in a few weeks. Last year, I put up a total of 19 versions of Screamin' Jay Hawkins' classic voodoo howl. I just reupped the zip, and you can find Volumes One and Two here. Now, here are ten more versions [...]
Hmm, I said I wouldn't go digging out every version, and Credence Clearwater + Marilyn Manson + The Animals didn't make the grade. Also I haven't yet tried to locate covers by The Eels, Bonnie Tyler (whose version I heard a clip of, and it sounded good), Roxy Music, Brian Ferry, Them, Nick Cave, Manfred Mann etc etc & err, nor will I most likely, unless more than one or two people ask; but Arthur Brown did one too, which has to be worth a listen - saw him at The Joiners in Southampton in the mid-90's I think, what [...]

(Note for bookkeepers -- I started writing this post last night, but sadly fell asleep before the files finished uploading. Tuesday's regular one-song post will be up soon.) Screamin' Jay Hawkins wrote this song in 1956 (or so -- there is debate). In 2005 I compiled a CD, on which I whittled down my collection of about 35 versions of this song down to 27, enough to fit onto one disc. Then today I got it down to ten. And it was painful. I love this song, and there are more [...]
