Buzz Track: Oh You're The One Sonnet Simmons has become a Kings favorite after listening too Oh You're The One. The track was recorded with Producer Doug Grean (Stone Temple Pilots, Sheryl Crow, Scott Weiland). Sonnet began making a mark when her track “You’re So Good for Me,” was utilized in first a regional, then national, ad campaign for Coca-Cola, hitting the Top 100 downloads list for Amazon, appearing on iTunes, and garnering over 40K downloads in its first month. She subsequently performed with artists from Justin Timberlake’s label (Tennman [...]

There's nothing more pleasant than opening your inbox and finding the tasty new video for "Electromagnetic Force" by hard rockers The Wanton Looks . The song's own playfulness lends itself to an equally cheeky video and this one definitely has a mid-90s MTV alt-rock video feel to it with the fabulous foursome primping and playing their tune in various locales around Chicago including Livewire Lounge. The sledgehammer bit at the end is also pretty rad. You can catch The Wanton Looks live and in person at Underground Lounge along with The Sonnets, Tiny [...]

Congratulations, it's Friday! Once again, we've got a great selection of shows for your weekend-planning pleasure. There's some Hemmingbirds' action at Quenchers, a little bit of Carbon Tigers at Beat Kitchen and Creepy Band at The Empty Bottle, just to name a few. Without further ado... Let there be rock. FRIDAY HEMMINGBIRDS There's nothing more delightful than a bit of jaunty orchestral pop, am i right? [...]
The Safes Three there’s-only-one-day-til-tur key-(or Tofurky)-day reasons to get yourselves down to Quenchers for a little rock-n-roll stuffing... 1. Chicago rockers The Safes straddle the unspoken line between rowdy punk and nerdy power pop. The trio absorb many influences from Teenage Fanclub to Superchunk while spitting back out wailing alternative rock riffs and rumbling rhythms that ebb and flow between bratty-cute and bratty-menacing. The end result is pretty damn catchy. WATCH: “ The Sky is Falling ” [...]

Tweet You don’t see many bands with roots in traditional folk music making much of a stir these days. Even less often will you see them on major record labels with releases debuting at Billboard #1. If it isn’t Mumford & Sons that have sprung to mind by now, odds are worth betting it’s The Decemberists . Since the millennium, they have been bringing us their rock-infused brand of reminiscent folk music and performances in a fashion all their own. [...]

Encerramos hoje a viagem através das faixas inéditas do EP Long Live The King , do The Decemberists .

Here's another look at the upcoming EP from The Decemberists . We've heard a couple songs already, and now Huffington Post has the album's closer, "Sonnet." It starts as a gentle, poetic, acoustic track that sounds more like an intimate live performance than a finished album cut. At 1:25, the horns and keys come in and make this one pop. Love Live The King will be out November 1st. The Decemberists - "Sonnet"

Photo by Philip Cosores Day 5 of The Decemberists' premierathon has arrived and The Huffington Post are today's big winners, as they get to launch "Sonnet." And while we at One Thirty BPM will act like our feelings aren't hurt for not being asked to do one of these, I do have to admit it has been a nice opportunity to show off my extensive collection of Colin Meloy pictures. Check out "Sonnet" below.

Another day, another offering from The Decemberists' new EP Long Live the King . Following previews of the first four tracks, " E. Watson" , "Foregone" , "Burying Davy" , and "I 4 U & U 4 Me" , The Huffington Post is streaming the EP's closer, "Sonnet". Click here to check it out. The EP's remaining track, a cover of Grateful Dead's "Row Jimmy", was previously released as a b-side to the single release of "January Hymn” earlier this year. Check it out below. The EP will [...]

"A record is called a 'record' because it is supposed to be a document of a performance. It captures a moment or series of moments when certain musicians played music. In one sense, it's kind of weird to expect any record to be applicable to everyone at any time, as if you could record a phone conversation you had with your friend and always listen to that instead of needing to talk to your friend again." Portland musician Nick Jaina (who we enjoyed on my summer mix , and [...]
Meridene's appearance is among the most anticipated sets of Volume One's Sounds Like Summer Concert Series. On July 21, the four-piece once again delivered a memorable, summer-worthy performance, playing mostly songs from Something Like Blood and its upcoming EP.

When you live in the virtually rock club-less Northwest side of Chicago like myself, you take solace in knowing that your area is home to one of the raddest record stores in the city - Laurie's Planet of Sound . But even more awesome is when summer rolls around, and Laurie's announces their in-store concert series, like they just did earlier this week . Every Thursday beginning in July through September will feature in-stores from some killer local acts including, but not limited to, Big League Chew-ers [...]
![[Listen/Download] – New Song By Rich Kid Sound System – “Sonnet 27″](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3533764_lg.jpg)
Tweet When I was at school, as part of my exams, I had to do "Romeo and Juliet" by Shakespeare. Sadly it wasn't the best literary experience of my life. If the film had been around then I might have passed. Years later I discovered his Sonnets and found them much more interesting. I once had a discussion with an English lecturer who suggested that had Shakespeare been alive today he would probably have been a rapper. Imagine how pleased I was then to [...]
Rich Kid Sound System, an indie hip hop group from Miami, sent this over earlier today, and I'm glad they did. The verses mixed with the laid back hook make for a great combo, perfect for warm weather days. Let us know what you think! Preview: Download: Rich Kid Sound System - Sonnet 27 | [...]
New track from Rich Kid Sound System off of the upcoming mixtape, Death of a Frat Rapper dropping this summer.

Rich Kid Sound System was supposed to drop their mixtape last month, but the guys decided to start from scratch and lay down a bunch of live instrumentation. The plan is to drop it this summer. I'm horrible with seasons, so I'm not really sure when that is, but I know that it's hot outside, so hopefully soon. For now, check out "Sonnet 273, a play on Beethoven's old joint. I'm loving the chorus on here. Rich Kid Sound System - "Sonnet 273
Less than three weeks after releasing "Not Far From Home", Rich Kid Sound System returns with yet another hit just in time for the start of summer. It's called "Sonnet 273 and it has a great beachy, laid-back sound to ... Continue reading
