Laish - In The Morning Beginning life as the solo project of the uber-talented Daniel Green, Laish , who are now a quintet, are something else entirely. Their pure, homegrown folk emanates beauty of all kinds, showcasing an elegant and delicate songwriting style as well as get-up-and-dance vocal harmonies and pure musicianship most could only hope to accomplish. This is genuine folk music; the melodies are gorgeous, and Danny's gritty, wholesome vocal style sets Laish apart from so many artists trying to capture a folksy magic reserved only for the most talented of musicians. From the opening tips of [...]

Laish - In The Morning Brighton has long been renowned for giving birth to some of the UK's best upcoming music, whether it be indie guitar bands or, as in this case, beautiful folk ditties courtesy of the Willkommen Collective. The latest offering from Brighton's cutting-edge seaside Collective is the truly wonderful Laish . Made up of musicians from all ends of all things Willkommen - from Curly Hair to Sons of Noel & Adrian - and fronted by the effortlessly creative and distinctively-voiced Danny Green, it seems more than appropriate to conclude [...]
Brighton's Sons Of Noel & Adrian performed down Coppinger Row one bleary Sunday a few weeks back. It started pelting down shortly afterwards but Bandwidth Films and Ian Maleney managed to get the footage despite the murky downpour that proceeded. All State Intervention videos.
It was a typical wet and windy day when we took to the streets of Dublin with Brighton's Sons Of Noel & Adrian . Fortunately a break in the weather enabled us to set up camp on Coppinger Row and for our friends at Bandwidth Films to capture this superb session. Stay tuned for the results of #7 next week but in the meantime enjoy.... STATE INTERVENTION#6: Sons Of Noel & Adrian from Bandwidth on Vimeo .
After a small break over the summer, the State Intervention series is back this weekend with a special double bill. Seeing as many of you won't be checking your computers on a Sunday we're breaking with tradition just this once by giving you the details here on State ahead of time. Our guests for #6 are the fine double bill of Peggy Sue and Sons Of Noel And Adrian , both closing their State partnered Irish tour at the Workman's Club on Sunday night. You should of course head along to that but before hand you can [...]

A homecoming show of sorts, Brighton's own Willkommen collective took over the Corn Exchange to showcase their multi instrumental talents, and offer the audience their malteasers. Well it was easter after all. TLOBF was there to record it in pictures. Shoreline Sons Of Noel And Adrian [...]
Given that the bands which make up Brighton's Willkommen Collective share so many members, it's surprising that there's so much diversity. Take for instance The Leisure Society and Sons of Noel and Adrian, who are about to head out on tour together. The Leisure Society are the ones with the ...

The Leisure Society with Sons Of Noel And Adrian A pinch and a punch, the first of the month! Two of our favourite bands The Leisure Society and Sons Of Noel and Adrian are set to appear at Notting Hill venue The Tabernacle this Thursday (April 1st) alongside special guest Kristin McClement . The Leisure Society have been hard at work on the follow-up to last years super successful debut The Sleeper so expect a few new, unheard songs thrown into the mix. Tickets are [...]

Kings Cross hasn't quite shaken off its seedy air entirely but Kings Place on York Way is a good example of just how much times have changed. Certainly different to 14/15 years ago when I did a nights work as a cross between security guard and Satellite truck technician. That evening outside an Antipodean pick up joint, not unlike the Walkabout but without its air of sophistication was beyond grim. LiveTV! were broadcasting a dating show from within the sawdust floored cesspit, while I did my best to fend off aggressively beered up rugby types. The trip to [...]

The latest installment of Bandstand Busking is taking place in Clerkenwell* this coming Sunday. For those of you unfamiliar with this coolest of concepts, it sees up-and-coming musical acts take to the bandstand in Northampton Square, off St John Road (map), for just under half an hour. It's old-fashioned, acoustic, charming and completely free. And appearing this [...]
This gig was a promising triple-bill which got off to a disappointing start for me, after turning up halfway through She Keeps Bees' allotted slot to see Jessica Larrabee onstage looking like she was clearing up. Annoying, but it transpired that they had some sound problems and cut their set ...
Well, OK, a few other bands were on the bill, but any expectations of me perching on the Union Chapel's hard benches for the event's 6 hour duration were considered by my buttocks to be highly unreasonable. The majority of bands on the lineup were different permutations of the Willkommen Collective, a multi-headed, multi-instrumental beast [...]

I know I'm late to the party with this review, the album was released back in June, 2008. However, their EP The Wreck is Not a Boa t , containing a new version of that song plus three new songs was released March 29, 2009 and an even newer EP, Rivers is just out as of May 4. When I first heard Damien. Lessons From What's Poor from the Sons of Noel & Adrian's debut album , it struck me, rather, it smacked me upside the [...]
