Buckle up, kiddos...it's time to premiere the video for Sophie Ellis-Bextor 's new single with the Freemasons , "Heartbreak Make Me A Dancer"! As usual, SEB looks stunning ; ravishing as ever. So stone cold--her face really is the definition of "fierce," isn't it? Hard to believe she's given birth only three months ago... That being said, how about those effects? Works in some places (multi-layered silhouettes), but not in others (disorienting radar blips of color). It's kind of like Kanye West was [...]

Be sure to read the lovely little phone interview with Sophie Ellis-Bextor posted on her MySpace earlier today. In it, she outlines plans for her upcoming promo duties (check), album plans (check), and bringing up babies (check check). Oh yes, and this little bit at the end: Are you making good progress on your new album? Absolutely. I've got some really good stuff and we're nearly there, but I think I probably need another two or three songs. There are a couple of collaborations in the offing which [...]

Freemasons feat. Sophie Ellis Bextor: Heartbreak The Freemasons have revealed the cover for their new single 'Heartbreak (Make Me A Dancer)' featuring Sophie Ellis Bextor. Doesn't she look like Jackie Kennedy? 'Heartbreak' is set to be released on June 15th, 2009.
Songwriter update (because yes, I am a total songwriter nerd-in-training: Jessie J (pictured), the British singer that Worrapolava has championed , was signed a few months ago. That's not news. What is news is that she's had Dr. Luke and Claude Kelly (working together, Kelly Clarkson's "My Life Would Suck Without You," Britney's "Circus") writing for her. Claude Kelly (in addition to the songs mentioned above, Leona [...]

With the recent news of Cheryl Cole 's plan to record a solo album following the closure of the Aloud 's Out Of Control Tour , I thought I'd put together my thoughts regarding the possibility for each Aloud's individual successes if they were ever to go solo. (Let's face it, we have to do something to pass the time until the debut of Sophie Ellis-Bextor 's video for "Heartbreak Make Me A Dancer.") Cheryl Cole [...]

For someone who's actually not a one-hit-wonder, Sophie Ellis-Bextor is probably my very favorite one-hit-wonder ever. She may have had other songs in the charts, but this is the only one I remember seeing a lot of, and it was HUGE. In fact, the wikipedia tells us that "Murder On The Dancefloor" was Europe's most played single of 2002. No wonder because it is totally awesome - I don't care if it's not cool or whatever, I absolutely loved this track and still do. It's catchy and so happy and makes you want to dance. What more could [...]

Here's another Sophie Ellis-Bextor track, seeing as you all liked the last one so much. ' Just Can't Fight The Feeling ' leaked a few weeks ago, it's not as good as the Freemasons one, but I enjoy it nevertheless. I love her accent! Just Can't Fight The Feeling ( Download ) Don't forget to visit hardcandymusic.com and let us know what you think of our posts!

I don't know about all of you, but I've been hankering for some new stuff from Sophie Ellis-Bextor for the longest while! Well seeing as she just gave birth to her second child, we'll have to wait for her next album just a bit longer! In the meantime we have this glorious track ' Heartbreak Make Me A Dancer ' that's been given the Freemasons treatment! What a fabulous collaboration! Heartbreak Make Me A Dancer [...]

Sophie Ellis-Bextor 's been busy lately. If she isn't too occupied poppin' em out two months before their due date, she's off releasing singles from all directions. Well, not entirely: Previously recorded collaborations is slightly more accurate. Two days ago, the Freemasons announced on the MySpace that their next official single will be "Heartbreak Make Me A Dancer," an immense, dark disco Bextor collabo many have already deemed quite worthy of following up her last release, Trip The Light Fantastic . What we didn't [...]

Wow! I mean what an amazing program. Fashion photographer Rankin delves into the history of 20th Century fashion photography and recreates some of the most iconic images from luminaries including David Bailey, Richard Avedon and Guy Bourdin. He enlists the help of some of today's biggest stars, including Heidi Klum (pictured), Sophie Ellis-Bextor and even his own girlfriend and model Tuuli Shipster. The program must be seen by anyone with an interest in art history, fashion and photography. The interviews are superb. He actually shoots his own girlfriend in his homage to Bailey with Bailey present [...]

(Original photography via Mason Dent ) Well, it's that time of year again where every single blog in the world puts out their "best of" lists, and Hot Biscuits is no exception. Given the mass amount of content after the jump, I'm going to keep this rather brief. What's there to say really? 2008 brought us some good albums and a heap of good singles/ remixes. I'm hoping for 2009 to be more like 2007, in that there are new albums galore. So yeah, here are a couple of fun stats about HB and you can find [...]
I'm going to go ahead and kick off our year end wrap-ups today with my favorite track of 2008. I first heard La Roux on the Kitsune 6 compilation a couple months back and her track Quicksand has been on eternal repeat ever since. Only 20 years old, Londoner La Roux (aka Elly Jackson) is a young lady full of slick sass. With a vocal style akin to Sophie-Ellis Bextor and Annie -esque 80's tinged pop beats, La Roux has me sinking deeper into her musical quicksand. [...]

I'm in the process of listening to Ferry Corsten 's fabulous new album, Twice In A Blue Moon , but I had to stop and post about the second track off the CD. Already, Corsten's struck gold with "Black Velvet," in all its creamy, synth deliciousness. The vocals melt atop the backing track with a degree of timed temptation, dripping and drifting along glittery synths as the mystery songstress purrs, "How could I know I'd dream for this? How could I know I'd die for this?" Slightly innocuous, though entirely sinister, "Black Velvet" oozes with sensual [...]

It's time for you to tell us again Which Is Better?? Here we have 4 versions of the song Jolene! The artist include: Dolly Parton, Olivia Newton-John, Sophie Ellis-Bextor & Strawberry Switchblade! They are all quite good... but what do you think, let us know Which Is Better?? [...]

At Amherst, my favorite song to hear (or play) at a party was Murder on the Dancefloor by Sophie Ellis Bextor. I have a frightening obsession with this song that I'm still battling to this day. I am guilty of running up to the booth and yelling "Do you have Murder on the Dancefloor?" and "Heb je Murder on the Dansvloer?" (On that note, can they sell that record in the Netherlands? No one has it here.) Now, I've found my grad school (or at least Leiden) equivalent of the song that I can't [...]

(photo via bucksw0pe) I went to a big college in a small town. I discovered club nights (and I use that term very loosely) during this era. A group of local DJs rented out a restaurant and would turn it into 2- level club once a month. This was pre- Daft Punk's Discovery , the era of Modjo, Cassius and Basement Jaxx which gave rise to a full-on UK Garage explosion as Craig David and MJ Cole appeared stateside. We called all this [...]
