Still thinking about Junior Seau and how great of a human being he was. So sad knowing that no matter how nice and happy people can be, something like this can still be a reality. Rest in peace, 55. My first post I ever did on this site was about the group Sore Losers. Today, I'll do a post about an EP released by one half of that group, Blue, or Brain Gang Blue as he now calls himself. This EP does nothing less than PUMP YOU UP. Even fans of electronic type music might enjoy this EP, so give it a shot. Brain Gang Blue - Fuck That Noise Brain Gang Blue - Party On [...]

People go through life in search of who they really are through experience. I believe it holds true for artists as well. We've seen many artists re-make their sound and hold their breath when the release date rolls around knowing it will make or break them. What many fail to realize is although artists are people, they have even more sides to them that they can discover over time. After a decision to change the Sore Losers line-up we've grown to know and love, Brown and Blue each took separate roads while [...]

" The separation of talent and skill is one of the greatest misunderstood concepts for people who are trying to excel, who have dreams, who want to do things. Talent you have naturally. Skill is only developed by hours and hours and hours of beating on your craft " - Will Smith Millions of individuals are born with talent, but not all are lucky enough to showcase them. We often hear of struggling artists who passionately pursue their dreams for years on end. What drives them is their hope to one day turn on the [...]

Photograph by Steven Walter South by Southwest is kind of like the Twitter of music festivals. It's peppy, popular, easy to mock, highly corporate and desperate to hide that fact with little stabs at techy subversiveness. The scene on the ground is as though social networking itself was suddenly given life by a bored trickster god, as musicians of every flavour and every level of grunginess mingle with industry suits and club kids on spring break. The fact that for the first time in my life I was spending a good portion of my time in [...]

The Sore Losers (Hasselt, Belgium) melted their love for rock, country, blues, folk and garage into a sound very much their own. Rumour has it comparisons with The Raconteurs, The Rolling Stones, Reigning Sound and more fascinating folks are plenty. Vocally lead singer Jan Straetemans does indeed remind us of retrochild Jack White. But just as much of the late Gram Parsons or even a bit of Wilco-frontman Jeff Tweedy. The band is composed of Jan Straetemans (vox/guitar), Cedric Maes (guitar), Kevin Maenen [...]

With Blue (left) on the boards, and Brown on the mic, you get a hip-hop duo that deserves a top spot in the game. There's just something about Blue's versatile beats combined with Brown's flow and delivery that leaves you wanting more. Once the beat drops in "Solutions", you're gonna want to turn that volume up and bob your head to it. "Freeloaders: The Soundtrack" appeals to all listeners, whether you listen to Ratatat or get your fix on the dope beats and dope rhymes of hip-hop. "Solutions" - Sore Losers [...]

I dig it when artists take simple sayings and make them into a nice lil something to bob your head to. In this case it is Dallas duo Slim Gravy and Paris Pershun(b.k.a. A.Dd+) hitting us with "Like A Mug". More info about this duo courtesy of their press release: While A.Dd+ is a duo, comprised of rappers Slim Gravy and Paris Pershun, the unofficial third member of the group is producer Picnic Tyme, who, in addition to producing all of When Pigs Fly, is part of Erykah Badu's Cannabinoids crew and also works with Devin [...]
I'm more than half-way through the best songs on the SXSW 2011 Torrent. Today is just S artists performing in SXSW which is quite a lot so I had to single out the S's. First we got Satchel Grande, who are a funk/soul/pop band from Omaha, Nebraska.

When Mac Miller decided to title his newest mixtape Best Day Ever , he was most likely anticipating the effect that it would have on those that downloaded it. I pretty much expected this mixtape to be epic; the singles "Donald Trump" and "She Said" clued me in to that. However, I didn't expect the unreleased content from the mixtape to be so dope. Honestly, most mixtapes revolve around a couple of powerful singles which we (sadly) receive before the tape drops; that's just the way marketing [...]
