Got some nice techno / darkish electronic stuff here. This new Soulphiction 12" on Philpot Records is real nice. Kinda somewhere between deep house and lounge acid, it's a nice mellow groove, subdued and warm. Really like the progression and the care taken with the arrangement. Boohgaloo Zoo are K'bonus and U-Gene, two veterans of the Belgian and Dutch music scenes respectively. After meeting at the 10 Days Off festival in Ghent the duo started sending each other beats and tracks and soon enough a full album was in the making. Ahhh yes. It was bound to happen, two of the deepest cats in the game hooking up for a gorgeous double-header with a righteous Trus'me remix to boot. "The Limelight" is a dripping hot summer anthem, complete with Soulphiction's signature Moodymann-isms and Dave Moufang's incomparable spaced out vibes.
