PopMatters spotlights a few additional 2012 albums that didn't quite crack the Best 75 list . For their fourth album, producers Rich Machin and Ian Glover paired up with Depeche Mode vocalist Dave Gahan. The result was some of the best work by all involved,...

Dave Gahan has been the frontman for Depeche Mode for almost as long as the band has been together. In all that time, he’s experienced the highs and lows often associated with being in the spotlight, much of which became fodder for tabloids. Years after leaving the darkness behind, Gahan finds himself embracing a new, different kind of darkness while working with Soulsavers , the gothic-tinged English production team of Rich Machin and Ian Glover. Gahan is taking this feeling of reinvigoration back into the studio with Depeche Mode as well, as he and bandmates Martin [...]
Soulsavers welcome Depeche Mode's Dave Gahan on board, backing it up with epic wide-screen storytelling in their new video "Take Me Back Home."

I first encountered Soulsavers in 2007 when they released the stunning gospel tinged track Revival featuring Mark Lanegan and that was just amazing on all levels. Soulsavers are the production team of Rich Machin and Ian Glover and have been consistently releasing gospelly-dramatic music for a few years now. This year they released The Light the Dead See , the group's 4th LP and first in three years. Fans of Depeche Mode will be pleased to know that this fourth album is a collaboration between Soulsavers and Dave Gahan, and Gahan acts as [...]

Filed under: News , Exclusive , Q + A Steve Gullick Dave Gahan didn't write Depeche Mode 's best songs -- those irresistible '80s and '90s odes to strange love, tortured faith, shackling guilt and kinky sex -- but that's OK. He's probably lived them, and he's certainly the man to present them. Like some kind of synth-pop Johnny Cash , Gahan has battled drug addiction, attempted suicide and survived [...]

photos by Debi Del Grande Depeche Mode frontman Dave Gahan recently did some moonlighting as the singer on the new Soulsavers album The Light The Dead See . And [Saturday] night in L.A. at the famed studios of the Capitol Records building, the collaborators came together on the stage for a stunning seven-song set. Backed by a six-piece band, Gahan and Soulsavers brought to life the full drama of the haunting new album. Opening [...]
Soulsavers - Take Me Back Home
Here's the new tearjerker vid from Soulsavers - nicely shot by High 5 Collective, it's the perfect visual accompaniment for the band's lowly piece of melancholy.

Soulsavers - Gone Too Far
With their latest album, the Soulsavers continue ruminating on their singular theme - that the path of redemption winds through perdition, and no one knows the value of salvation more than the damned. Few groups, currently active or otherwise, exemplify the dichotomies of personal torment and joy like the Soulsavers. Their relatively small output has a singular theme - that the path of redemption winds through perdition, and no one knows the value of salvation more than the damned. Helmed by Brits Rich Machin and Ian Glover, the collective's fourth and latest offering, The Light the Dead See, continues [...]

DOA
A successful departure for both Soulsavers and guest vocalist Dave Gahan, this new LP eschews any semblance of electronica for something more organic and cinematic.
The British production team Soulsavers have finally released a follow-up to 20092s highly praised LP, Broken . On The Light the Dead See , the group's lush expanses of slack-tempo darkness feature Depeche Mode vocalist Dave Gahan's baritone bellows in place of Mark Lanegan's whiskey-burnt pipes. Gahan's velveteen croon suits the group's film-score-perfect funeral dirges in a manner not entirely dissimilar from Lanegan's gravelly delivery, but offers a welcome twist on the wonderfully depressing sounds Soulsavers are known for. There are few men better suited to lend a voice to the aural heroin shot that [...]
True fans of music spend countless hours searching for that next great song, album or artist, whether it be online or in a local record shop. The beautiful thing about music in today’s age is that technology has created an infinite supply of great music that is available to us at the click of a mouse. How perfect is that? We can discover a brand new artist on the opposite side of the globe in seconds without a radio or a music television channel. It only makes sense that a website so dedicated to this gorgeous universe of music would [...]

The new Soulsavers album 'The Light The Dead See' was recently released and it features one of my all time favorites Dave Gahan from Depeche Mode handling vocal duties. I got the record and am mightilly impressed. Real soulful record. It's nice to hear Dave singing in a bit of a different style than the usual DM style. Check out "Longest Day" and "Presence of God" below. You can sample/buy the album on Amazon or [...]

Sen [...]
