I had some serious doubts about this show. First Alchemize closed and I heard nothing about it for a long time. I wondered not only if the fans would find out but also if the bands knew what was going on. Then Nick pulled out the announcement that the show would be at The Loft in Covington. Fine by me I thought, should be a great night. Then, as quickly as it changed the first time, the winds of change blew again and I got an email from Nick at about 6pm last [...]
Hi. How have you been? It's been a long time since we last chatted about music and other assorted topics. I've been "away" at my summer job teaching those, who some like to refer to as suckers, but I like to call beginning teachers. So, what have you been up to? I'm sure Siren Music Festival was fantastic. And how about those Birdmonster shows and Dirty on Purpose 's record release gig at Mercury Lounge? Mind blowing, that's what I heard. What's that? [...]

It's extremely nice to get out and see a good live show again. I haven't been in months since the Jenny Lewis show, and i was just happy to be there regardless if last night's show was good or bad. Thankfully enough the show as a whole was really great. I'll be honest though as i think this was the first show i'd been to where the supporting act completely upstaged the headlining band. I felt kinda bad for Sound Team because as soon as Cold War Kids finished their set, it [...]
Tonight. 6 p.m. 91.1 FM WRVU.org Sound Team will be in the studio, hanging out with me and answering a few questions. So tune in! And remember, if you have a question for the band, shoot me an email right now, because I probably won't be taking callers during the show. The real reason you should be excited is because the band's in town to play Exit/In tonight with Cold War Kids ! This one is my concert pick [...]
Well, I got a little worried about this show since Alchemize closed shop. I had been really looking forward to taking in the Cold War Kids and Sound Team again and feared the worst when Nick closed the bar less than two weeks from this show. Well, an announcement came down today. Here is the locale and time...... The Loft (formerly Radio Down, above Tickets Cafe') 100 W 6th Street in Covington, KY For directions call 859.431.1839 8$ show, Tickets on sale [...]
I can say without a doubt that tonight will be one of the best shows of 2006 that you will see in Atlanta. I say this because tonight, Sound Team , Cold War Kids , and Atlanta locals The Preakness play The Earl . Some of you probably saw Cold War Kids open for Tapes N Tapes at the sold out Drunken Unicorn show two months ago. Everyone that showed up early whole heartedly agreed that Cold War Kids stole the show. [...]
Pipettes - Pull Shapes There are many who hold a slightly Draconian worldview on mining the past. Why listen to Interpol when you can mine through old Joy Division. A fallacy on two points: one, the Interpol - Joy Division comparison is tenuous at best; two, music isn't a zero-sum game. If you have to chose one or the other, then you don't devote enough time to audio and, then, who are you to play music critic? I begin with that, as an unnecessary reflexive; because the Pipettes are really [...]

Did you know this is my 500th post? Kinda crazy. I figured I should do something special to honor the occasion, so I thought I would list my five favorite albums so far this year. In no particular order, here they are: Margot & The Nuclear So & So's - The Dust of Retreat I haven't been listening to The Dust of Retreat as much lately as I [...]

Who doesn't love a good monster? And who doesn't love a good monster song (and I'm not talking any of that Monster Ballads mularkey)? Not me, that's for dang sure. Hit it. ::: Les Savy Fav - Tragic Monsters ::: Band Of Horses - Monster ::: Mogwai - 1% Of Monster ::: Sound Team - Movie Monster ::: King Geedorah - Monster Zero [...]

If you're in my area and live around Austin, then I highly suggest you make your way to Emo's for a great two-for-one special on their stages tonight. You get two stages with local sounds from bands like Sound Team, Zykos, What Made Milwaukee Famous, and The Glass Family. Now it's Emo's so you can expect to get around well enough with only a twenty, and with a bill like that - how can you resist? Each band has their own unique mark to contribute to the night; I'd go deeper into each artist on the bill, but that'd make [...]

Everyone please welcome Desdemona contributor Pete Ohs to the blogoshphere. Pete has created a great little video blog called The Anchor Center which will be featuring videos of artists that pit stop in Cincinnati at Alchemize. Pete has a video interview and some of the live show from when the Sound Team came through town. I was at the show and took some photos as well back here. Here is also the WOXY Lounge Session The Sound Team did before that Alchemize show.... [...]
World Cup stuff: We're looking at a very disappointing (for me, at least) set of semifinal matches in the World Cup. I like Italy in principle, but watching the Italian team play isn't much fun with them attacking the opposing team, delivering vicious elbows and tackles, and then flopping around anytime an opposing player is within 10 feet. Still, I have no interest in Germany winning, so I'll cheer for Italy. I was really hoping Argentina would win this side of the bracket, but no luck there. On the other side, [...]
Lots of great stuff floating around on the blogs this week, here are a few things that caught my attention..... - Some Velvet Blog has an M Ward track up from his upcoming release, "Post- War" - More Cowbell has some new album info regarding Golden Smog , the side project of Jeff Tweedy and Gary Louris (and others) - Catbirdseat gives news of a Destroyer CBC session - Sound Team dropped Movie Monster on the masses today, Indie [...]

Sound Team is awesome and plays amazing shows. I saw them at Cinespace the other week and everybody was crammed in there having a great time. Their music, especially of the latest EP, WORK is perfect for many occasions. It can be dancing, or you can be perfectly satisfied listening on a sunny afternoon. My point being it's great and many people in the music blogosphere love them too. They are currently out on tour so check their myspace for show times. Sound Team: Myspace | Official [...]
