Soundgarden animated, intergalactic monsters attacking Seattle...Metalocalypse? The previously unreleased song, "Black Rain," gets itself a kick-ass music video that was directed by the Adult Swim show's co-creator Brendon Small. The song appears on their forthcoming greatest hits album, Telephantasm , which is in stores on October 5th. It also appears in the new Guitar Hero: Warriors Of Rock game which is in stores on September 28th.

Via Consequence of Sound we have our first Soundgarden video in a decade. Let's cut to the chase: "Black Rain" is a fire-and-brimstone rocker, a blistering Badmotorfinger outtake that's leaves you scratching your head as to why it's been locked in a vault for the past 19 years. If it weren't for the impending release of their hits compilation, Telephantasm , who knows if the track ever sees the light of day. I'm stoked that the band has reunited, that they got to headline Lollapalooza, and that, at least according [...]
Ever since Lollapalooza , it's been relatively quiet over at the Soundgarden camp. Sure, we have "Black Rain", the new single off their forthcoming greatest hits package, Telephantism , but we've yet to see any tour dates and we've only heard snippets of news bites here and there. But this morning, the band returns... with a music video, their first in a decade. From the mind of Metalocalypse co-creator Brendon Small, "Black Rain" sees our favorite grungesters (is that even a term?) animated and taking part in what looks like [...]
Better than a new Soundgarden song, "Black Rain," is an outtake from the Seattle band's Badmotorfinger sessions set to be included on the band's forthcoming greatest hits package. As such, you get the full Soundgarden in this one- the fierce and grungy low-end, brutal guitar riffs sharing space with more nimbly picked melodies, and vocalist Chris Cornell hitting notes no man with balls should be able to hit. Hardly a toss-off, "Black Rain" could have been slotted between "Jesus Christ Pose," and "Face Pollution" during Badmotorfinger's initial release without sacrificing any of the album's power. And speaking of power, the video [...]

Filed under: News , Video , New Music , Exclusive When fans have been clamoring for your reunion, you have to come back in style. Seattle grunge heroes Soundgarden understand that, and after finally answering the calls for the quartet of Chris Cornell , Kim Thayil, Matt Cameron and Ben Sheperd to reform, the band returned to the stage in full force at Lollapalooza and a few club gigs. Now, the band has released a new [...]
Outside of a Seattle comeback show , a Lollapalooza headlining gig , and a Lolla pre-show , the Soundgarden reunion has so far been a drawn-out tease, a case of just-do-it-already frustration - which, to be fair, probably made the few shows the band has done more special than any of the gazillions of gigs Pavement has churned out. But still, people have been patiently waiting for some dates for...jeez, has it been six months now? A year? In an interview with Seattle's 107.7 The End , Soundgarden (minus Chris Cornell) gave [...]

i am not sure whats going on with this compilation of live tracks, but its called out of seattle . i am guessing its a fan made comp, which if it is thanks to you. i only say that cause out of the 6 bands highlighted, 2 of em really have nothing to do with seattle. sure the afghan whigs were signed to sub pop at one point and soul asylum was kinda lumped in with all the seattle bands back then. so, it makes some kind of sense, i suppose. anyway, i dont have dates or anything, but [...]

As previously reported by Spinner, Shepherd was said to be "totally broke" despite the band's recent reformation in an interview with Spin magazine. But in a statement on Soundgarden's official website , he revealed that he feels his words could be "misinterpreted" and that his 'couch surfing' is nothing compared those [...]

G5 - Monday, August 23rd So remember how I linked to Ted Leo’s announcement over the weekend stating that he was going to make musicals? That was all an elaborate set up for the above video for “Bottled in Cork.” Well played, sirs A while back, Creative Loafing posted a phenomenal track-by-track breakdown of Outkast’s Aquemini with accompanying interviews… this is a few months old, but well-worth checking out. Very cool discussion of the album from Andre 3000, Big Boi, some of the featured artists like Raekwon and [...]
by James Zalucky So I was checking my inbox this morning and found an email from the Soundgarden fan-club site. The email announced the artwork had been released for Soundgarden's new retrospective compilation, Telephantasm. The artwork is pretty interesting, so I figured I'd share some of it here. Telephantasm comes out in the US on September 28th. ...
The song is called "Black Rain" and it's not actually new. They originally recorded it during the Badmotorfinger sessions but never released it. I have no idea why they didn't because it's fucking awesome. Some might say it's a cop out to simply release an old track and bunch it in with the new stuff but I say fuck it. We're talking about Soundgarden here, one of the best ever. They can do

The following article was submitted by Monica Mitevski : Sunday night I was a headline whore. I hit Soundgarden (I still don’t fully understand what I was thinking going there), Arcade Fire and even jumped over to the Perry’s stage where Digitalism was performing. Soundgarden . Where to begin, after thinking it over for a long time, I realized I was only there to see if anyone cared and to see what exactly was going to happen. [...]

I got busy this weekend between covering Outside Lands and the Phish setlists coming in from Alpine, and in the meantime, our friend Jimmy Coulas from Scents & Subtle Sounds finished his coverage from last weekend's Lollapalooza music festival. Word is that Jimmy is launching a redesigned blog in the next few days, so he's been busy. Read on for his final thoughts from the festival, and stay tuned for more contributions from our buddies across the country in the very near future. We're opening this bitch up. [...]
